go crazy ??

I proposed this question a few years back before the Pandemic hit. And I think it was at the Spartan Marketing Forums if my memory serves me right.

But now that you got a taste of it ( with the pandemic) what state of mind would you be in if you were theoretically mandated by an Orwellian gov't to stay in the confines of your home and property and never be allowed to leave that for the rest of your life?? Would you survive even thrive or go mentally insane? What would you do to find fulfillment in this scenario?

(All food would be magically dropped to you by planes from the Gov't.)

Let's hear it guys ?

Two minutes of thinking and I realize how totally off the wall this 'concept' is.

For a 'what if' I think the idea has to have some potential reality - this is no extended family, no medical care, no education, no this or that or anything else.

Not everyone would be at home -- if the govt is 'dropping food' - someone is working, someone is delivering....livestock would have to go to the markets, fields would have to be harvested and the food moved throughout the country.

no economy, no jobs, no charities, no military defense, no organized religion, no entertainment....

Okay for arguments sake and to make it more realistic how would you do with a similar Pandemic like the one we had. But much worse and longer lasting and instead of 3-6 months confinement to your house say it was 10+ years confinement ?? ( obviously not completely confined )

How would you do?? Go crazy or find a way to cope or maybe even have a fulfilled life ??

Technically, Robert didn't say everyone would be confined. He said *you* would be confined. Maybe this malevolent government deemed you a dissident and forced you into home confinement.

      How would you handle it?

An easy question to answer the general population would go insane after three years, (look at China).

And me well l went through lockdowns even longer than China last year, and by lockdown#6 the general population didn't give a shit anymore and 50% ignored the 5km rule.

I knew that anyone would have one chance in 600,000 of the cops catching them and knew that if l didn't go for a drive in the country l would have been bedridden with cronic back pain due to ongoing stress and tension hypothetically speaking of course.

And 10 minutes in the country removed that issue.

So being stuck at home for 10 years, lol wouldn't happen and even if the fines were harsh l would still do it. If you have a choice between being bed ridden with pain and a short drive in the country no contest.

I was stuck at home for 2 years with a closed shopping centre to go to, and it was illegal to sit down anywhere and drink a coffee.

But for that stint Survivor playing Zelda on the WiiU and my forum, (music thread) where the key things that kept me sane.

10 years, even with sneaking out l dunno and l don't want to find out.

I can't go all the long without talking or interacting with other people who I'm not related to. People who I can have interesting or humerus discussion with. I easily can be dropped somewhere I don't know anyone and as long as people speak some English I can socialize and get along with people.

Take that away permanently and as long as there is plenty of alcohol in the daily rations I might last a few months before I die of alcohol poisoning.

Honestly though seeing how badly government does simple things and how much more it costs. Just to deliver the food a person needs on a daily basis. It would probably cost twice what a persons total expenses are. That has nothing to do with politics. Just the tendency of government regulations to make getting things done cost more.

    Yes, You are right.
By staying at home for a long time, It can be affected to mental health badly.

My suggestion is there should be concepts which helps for the people to bring their mental & physical health while staying at homes

I'd find a ton of like-minded people to take action and overthrow the government. I couldn't be confined to my house for 10 years.

Pretty much the same scenario that happens in prisons.

People are confined by the government and can't leave, some are in lockdown, and some for the rest of their lives.

If they try to leave they are captured or shot.

    The government feeds them.

It irritates me that I didn't think of that.

If we were in lockdown, for any reason that made us fear for our lives...of course we would adapt.

Think of the people in prisoner of war camps...even Nazi death camps. We adapt to what we have available.

Personally, I have a nice home and a great wife...and two cats. Not only would I adapt to living at home all the time...I may actually prefer it.

Even if they took our cable TV, internet, phone, and radio....I still have a library that would keep us occupied.

Exactly. Great minds must think a like

If we had a lockdown like we did 3 years ago and it lasted 5 to 10 years ( instead of 3 or 4 months like before) I would build a library consisting of my fav novelists like James Patterson and Jody Picoult. I would have Netflix to watch "series" shows with my wife and our house is relatively nice and big enough for us to enjoy for years.

I would also turn our very small backyard into a sanctuary of sorts with a garden, flowers, plants, and a small fountain to sit and read by with my wife. And we have a wonderful Basset Hound to keep us entertained.

And for fitness I would do my Total Gym and stationary bike everyday.

Yep that about covers it. Sign me up

Given we are able to keep our tech and have money to buy new stuff. It could more or less be done now. A virtual headset used with an exercise stepper or similar, with added smells and sounds, a breeze etc. Various landscapes to explore etc. An immersive tactile feedback suit is still a little way off.

We already have touch gloves, $5,450 pair but full body suits only for the rich when we get them.

This is pretty crude but it works, and obviously the graphics is for testing so is crude by PS5 virtual game standards.

Not sure if l would favor being in a world and fighting some nasty creature feeling every blow but in the next 20 years when the costs come down and game systems have pushed the 15 Gflops limit, (just viable for 4k high res, environments now) fully immersive should be a reality.

Year 2035 stuck at home put on your suit, and go and visit the virtual market?

Edit: I stay home most of the time - always have plenty to do...or not to do if I'd rather. Where you lose me is being told I HAVE to do something. I don't respond well to ultimatums...if someone tells me 'do this or else'...'or else' will win every time.

Just kind of like a Fantasy/ Sci-Fi type question, Kay, meant to be playful and stimulate your creative juices a little bit. Nothing more really. And what iam saying is I could do those things and still keep my sanity. Not that I would not do them now. I do to a certain extent but with a lock down it would be done to a much greater extent.

Will it be totally ok though if the people telling you how critical it is you stay home. Regularly travel and gather with large groups of friends and family for dinners and restaurants. While also keeping the businesses they own and their friends own open. While closing everyone else down.

As the world slowly emerges from the pandemic, many of us are wondering what life will be like post pandemic. One of the questions that comes to mind is: if you were confined to your property for the rest of your life, would you be okay or go crazy?

The answer to this question is largely dependent on your state of mind. If you are someone who values freedom and the ability to explore, then being confined to one place could be a difficult adjustment. On the other hand, if you are someone who finds fulfillment in creating and appreciating the little things in life, then you may be able to thrive in such a situation.

The key to being able to handle such a situation is to find ways to stay mentally and physically engaged. This could mean taking up a new hobby, such as gardening or painting, or starting a small business from home. It could also mean finding ways to stay socially connected with family and friends, such as through video calls or online gaming.

Of course, no matter how mentally and physically engaged you are, it is important to remember that it is still possible to go insane if you are confined to one place for too long. So it is important to take regular breaks.
