Yesterday, I was thinking about you.

    OK, 95% about me...and 5% about you.

OK, OK, 99.999% about me...and a few seconds about you.

But now.....please let us know about any changes. You're one of my favorites here. And I know I'm not alone. Get better.

Maybe while he's there, the doctors can fix that too.

I had a stent put in my heart on monday. its pumping is still down from what it should be. Cough returned too but the doc did put some fluids in me during the op. All female docs.

Waiting to get fitted with a shock vest. Meds for a few months. One to stop the heart rejecting the stent.

WHAT!!! You had open heart surgery and can still respond here!

More likely it was non invasive surgery, but you still need to take it easy, go and watch Days of our Lives on the overhead Screen and make sure you wear your headphones don't want to wake up the guy next door?

PS, go to the Disney channel or National Geographic, (Foxtel should have it) and watch Einstein on the Geniuses section, it does get heavy occasionally but is a long series and is excellent.

        Take care.

PPS your stay in hospital should be a short Stint!

I had to look that one up - never heard of it. Does that replace a defibrillator? Or is it stronger? Doesn't look very comfortable but I guess for what it does, that's a minor point.

Just got out of hospital after eight days. Weirdest operation of my life, being put on a flat table with a huge computer monitor running down it's left side. Not put out so I could feel stuff going on without being able to see it, a drug was administered to make me sleepy.

Felt first like being covered in hot towels, and some rubberized bits. Later it felt like the were putting warm latex pads all over my body. All very subjective feelings. They went in via my groin and right wrist. I actually felt the Stent going in. None of if was painful.

As to the vest. They were a day late getting it to me. It was demonstrated and I put it on. Rather like a heavy duty bra which had metal pads in it, basically a defibrillator. It had a heavy, bulky battery box with a screen Nope, so heavy, too tight, no way I was wearing this for 90 days. I will take my chances and the medicine. Totally impracticable to wear and put a strain on my chest. I probably would have preferred to have bought a defibrillator in a case. The bra unit shocks your heart if you don't press two buttons within a certain time if it is triggered by a dubious heart rate. It assumes an attack and you are unconscious.

Had I not dialled 911 though and got an ambulance last Wednesday morning I feel almost certain I would have died with 24 hours.

The diuretic called Lasik made me pee so much. I was so swollen up with fluid that I lost 26 pounds in 5 days.

Thank goodness you had the sense to call instead of think 'it will get better'. Don't blame you about that vest - I read up on it and it looks so uncomfortable. Are you a candidate for an implanted defibrillator?

I am Non Binary HPWO Gender.

Felt better post stent, taking a load of pills each day. Interestingly I weigh myself every day and send the results to the hospital via a phone app. And surprised to see that my weight can vary by up to two pounds per day.

  • I have a question. Your title is Congenital Heart Failure. Do you mean Congestive Heart Failure?

The reason I ask is that those are two very different sicknesses but from your symptoms it sounds like you have congestive heart failure.

Not being picky but this has bothered me a little since you posted this thread and I have some experience with this.

Well, we can forgive you this ONE time.

CHF is not fun to have. I have all of your symptoms plus some and they can't find the full reason which makes things much worse. I've been hospitalized four times since Thanksgiving.

Too many gory details to get into but let me say this, Mark please control your water intake, take your meds, and follow the doctor's orders to a T. This ain't something to play around with. I wouldn't wish these symptoms on my worst enemy. Hell on earth (that's not even a strong enough description). It's not fun to comply but it is a must if you want to avoid chronic, lifelong periods of hell. Take it from someone suffering through this for going on 13 years. For me, my body takes over in rebellion no matter how much I comply and decides a few times a year to beat me to a pulp.

My post isn't meant to be a downer. Many people come through with flying colors and don't get the worst of it. I hope that is you! Good luck man on your recovery.

Yes, I have heard conflicting stories. Some people who have stents put in do great for years, a new lease of life. Others not so good. Thanks to diabetes, I had to drastically reduce my sugar intake, now I have to add salt to that. I have a hospital cup to gauge the water intake. So far my weight has been great and consistent. I take a diuretic.

Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems.

          Fingers crossed.
