With the current Wildfires in Canada, are you getting any smoke, haze, or air quality alerts in your area? It was reported to be bad a long the East Coast all the way down to the Carolinas.

Here in New Jersey, it smells like a campfire and it's very hazy with poor-quality air alerts. Curious if anyone in Ohio, PA, New York, or anywhere else experiencing this.

My uncle up in Caseville, Michigan is getting some haze. I haven't noticed anything but our air quality index is in the warning level.

less than an hour north of Cincinnati - air quality has been bad today

Will be worse tomorrow and even worse on Friday/Saturday according to local news.

Today has bothered me when I've been outside so will likely stay in tomorrow. May have to skip going to play with horses this weekend.

I live in Bermuda and I haven't experienced or seen wildfires on a large scale.

What do you think is getting these wildfires started ?

They what started them - some were by careless campers and others by lightning.

This morning the air quality was poor, later today is supposed to be worse. We may get a break in the weather Friday. The Yankees and Phillies both canceled games last night. Today Newark and Philadelphia Air Ports have major issues. NYC and where I reside has the worse air quality in the world currently. Some school districts closed for the day.

I see by Saturday the air around Dayton Ohio is going to get worse. How does this affect the horses at the stable you ride at?

Shane, did you have issues in the Land Down Under when they had the major fires in the recent past?

Just an FYI had to go out to Costco this morning, Probably about 1/2 the people were wearing masks. I put mine on walking in and outside. On top of skipping my daily walk.

Now I know how the people downwind in California felt. Be safe out there!

Phew that was some time ago, but we did have recent burnoff's that brought in an unpleasant smoke smell every night when it got colder, (a combination of wood and burning tyres) which smelled out the rooms since l rely on gas/fan from outside air for heating.

Weeks of that suttle stink in the house every night almost drove me nuts, but it dissipated as it will in those areas, just don't bother hanging out any clothing and crank up the gas heater since the hotter the burners the more it burns off the soot.

But as you will see soon Melbourne's air quality is very good at the moment.

The horses are not being ridden due to this air thingie - they are smart and are staying in the woods. Air is probably better there in the trees than in the pasture.

Unlike people, animals often know when to stop exerting themselves and when to find shade or shelter. My dog is unhappy because we are not going on walks this week.

In a few minutes I'm going through the garage to my car to the grocery and straight back home. I'm not wearing a mask (hate them!) but my throat got scratchy yesterday when I was out long enough to clean and fill bird feeders so staying is is the thing to do.

We should clear up some this weekend as rain is predicted for Sunday - will help 'wash' the air.

I just came back from the store - thought you can see a haze in the sky the air doesn't seem bad at all. It's cooler today so that might help. That smoke has to go somewhere....

Yesterday and today, we noticed a haziness. And today, when we went out, we noticed our sinuses clogged up quickly. By this weekend, it is supposed to rain, so it should clear up somewhat in our area.
