Windows 10 Keep Alive Costs

As you may well know, Windows 10 support ends October 14th 2025. That is, no more security updates or bug fixes to download after that date which makes it vulnerable online to viruses and malware etc.

However, Microsoft have announced that you can pay for security updates for three years after the end of that date. The cost for the first year will be $61.00, the cost for the second year will be $122. For the third year will be $183.

So, are you all still on Windows 10 or upgraded to 11 (for free) yet?. I did it a long time ago and it is fine. (Unless you use the pathetic Mac computers and software that is, or the even more pathetic Linux, no bias here of course, lol)

I did not upgrade to win10 until I absolutely had to - see no reason to change that practice for win11. Haven't seen a lot of complaints about 11 though - which is good.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

      What's a "V"

Here's some little customization tips fo Win 11, or 10, click on the Windows store and type in "translucent" in search. It will find the app, (free) and download and install. Look at the settings. You can find it in the right hand corner of your taskbar, the little arrow pointing up, it's in there, click desktop from the the menu and then choose clear. Bang, the taskbar has gone, just leaves the icons floating on their own over the background., bit more like the Apple taskbar. Looks cool. Works very well in dark mode which is what I use.

Second one, search Microsoft store for X Live Wallpaper. (Free), gives you a small selection of animated Backgrounds for your desktop. It will appear on the taskbar so to change them just click on it and select your choice. I currently have mount Kilimanjaro with swirling clouds as my background. Beat that Mac.

Still using 7 eh. Well we all know why that is, the dreaded antique copy of Photoshop you still use. Keep it away from the internet, as it could catch a cold.

        And thanks for the tips.

Geesh Mark sounds like you are suffering from withdraw symptions l know the forum rules of "no religion no politics and no Claude jokes" is a hard pill to swallow.

I used windows 7 pro for 4 years with zero updates and l only needed to install some driver software to fix minor issues. So much for all of those supposed experts bleating crap to keep their jobs.

And CS2 is going strong certainly better than the $600 a year ripoff online version that is virtually identical.

The end of Windows 10 support is definitely a major milestone! The extended paid security updates option will appeal to businesses that need more time to transition, but for most people, upgrading to Windows 11 makes more sense, especially with the free upgrade option.
