for google, not to assign a page rank to it, but will follow the link. But having saying that, I think they have changed the way it was originally being used for. Before they would cache the nofollow link, but now it doesn't seem to be doing it. MSN & Yahoo have been this way since the word go where they wont index any link's page that has the nofollow

so that means that if I comment on a post in someones blog with the attribute of No Follow, the spiders will not go to my site from the site I posted the comment on?

You see, I am using Comment Kahuna and if I do a search for blogs that have a certain set of keywords and select the No Follow attribute, does that mean that any comments I make will not be spidered back or linked back to my own site when I put my URL in the signature?

back in the days, when the nofollow attribute was being used. Google would actually follow the link that had a nofollow on it. But they would not assign a page rank to that linked up page. MSN & Yahoo since day one would not follow the link or even cache it.

Now it seems that google is following MSN & Yahoo's route. You may of noticed that a lot of people have been reduced in page rank recently, and lost a lot of backlinks. It's only a theory of mine mind you, but it kind of makes sense, once you were able to still rank high with nofollow links in google if you had MANY of them.

I created 4 new sites the other week, and applied the nofollow to some of my pages that linked up to other pages on my site, and NONE of them got indexed, no matter how many links I pointed to the page that had nofollow links on the page.

So software like Comment Kahuna is now obsolete, unless you can find sites that have the dofollow attribute on the links and comments.

The only benefit you'll get from No follow blog comments is only additional (but minimal) referral traffic when a blog reader clicks in the URL from your blog comment. Aside from that, there's no SEO benefits like what was already said.
