Yes, I was just drinking one.

Wait, you mean one Diet Coke or one resolution?

Getting off those things is almost impossible, but it's something I need to do. Maybe I'll start with an easier resolution and build up. Maybe start with something like: No sour/ruined milk. Just say no. I think I could do that resolution pretty easily.

Good job, Robert. Keep it up.

I clink your can with a can of ice-cold, electrifying Zero Sugar Zero Caffeine Coca-Cola, and from the moment the tab snaps open, that unmistakable, caramel-kissed aroma rushes out like an invitation to pure bliss. The first sip? A tidal wave of fizz erupts on my tongue, an effervescent explosion of liquid gold--crisp, invigorating, and so perfectly balanced between syrupy sweetness and a citrusy, almost mystical zing that it feels like bottled nostalgia. The deep, velvety cola essence wraps around my taste buds, laced with hints of warm vanilla, a whisper of cinnamon, and a teasing bite of something dark and mysterious, like a secret the universe has been keeping. Every swallow sends a cool, carbonated shiver down my spine, refreshing, exhilarating, utterly addictive--like liquid happiness trapped in a can, daring me to take another sip.

Diet Coke is the worst thing to drink, it makes you crave food IMHO. I used to be a big Pepsi drinker but cut out all soda out a few years back. Due to high blood pressure. Fast forward a few years, on a rare occasion I have a root beer soda or Dr. Pepper.

    "it's my new year resolution.

Any of you have one or more ??" As far as resolutions, I don't make them because they won't last.

Haven't touched cakes since Xmas since l enjoy looking and feeling good, (used to have one a week then tried one a month then tried cold turkey then none apart from rare occasions).

Funny thing is l used to feel a bit sick afterwards, (not much fun in that) but after a Bacon and Egg Brioce or Toasted cheese tomato l don't.

I still have one chocolate bar a week and quarter of a glass of coke a day with ice, (summer here) so cool Turkey not cold.

This has been a resolution l guess since Covid but l suspect that l will cave in a little when it gets colder here.

Your health should not revolve around new year's resolutions.

You either take care of yourself or you don't.

I had a heart procedure in November. Had Covid for the second time in December. Strained my back a week ago and ended up in ER and excruciating pain. Still being treated for that and still hurting.

Good news is heart is fixed - lost 10 lbs with Covid and since I wasn't overweight I get to eat lots of desserts to regain that 10 lbs - back pain finally easing today. It's not how many times you fall - it's how many times you get back up...right?

My resolution is to hibernate till spring. I'm over this Sh**. I'm going to bloom again with the wildflowers.

Missing my gym workouts - hopefully back to them in 2 weeks and my trainer is putting together some back strengthening exercises to get back in the groove.

Kicking diet coke? Stop buying it - replace it with water, tea, juice, etc. It won't take long to get over the 'need' because it's a habit, not an addiction.

      Yup.
Until a few months ago, I drank a few cans of diet Dr Pepper (Cherry flavor), every day.

I decided to stop buying it, to see how much I missed it. I just replace it with hot tea, or fruit juice.

I also used to eat a small bowl of Smiths Cherry Cordial ice cream several times a week. The price went up, it irritated me, and I stopped buying it.

      I know...I know...I'm very heroic.

OMG. I was wondering what was up with you.

I thought you were just tired of deleting spammy posts.

Years ago, probably 30 years, I saw Dr. Andrew Weil on PBS or somewhere,
and he said that when you get older you should have a few extra pounds so
that in case you get sick, your body will have something to draw on.

I have seen a couple of my skinny old friends get sick and die, so I think there
was something valid in Dr. Weil's health tip.

I hope that you will be all right, wildflower.

@Claude ~ Let us face it, you are old and life is short. Stop being cheap and
buy the cherry ice cream. Also, did you know you could add water to soda pop
and you can't even tell the difference. It impacts the bubbles but not the taste.

I used to think it was the caffeine, but lately I've been thinking it may be the fizz. I bought some sparkling (or whatever it's called) water with fizz, and it hit the spot.

You can go to Walmart and get one of them there new fangled contraptions that makes sparkling water.

You can make a ton of different flavors.

    Or just drink plain water.

    Walmart needs your business.

I've never personally known any one who kept a NY resolution.

I think the whole idea is just mental masturbation.

As a kid my mom often called me a coke-aholic. Remember the little ten ounce bottles before they ruined the recipe? Like nectar of the gods.

After they ruined Coke I switched to Pepsi which I still drink almost daily.

My real addiction is Canada Dry ginger ale. It's my new "beer" which I gave up years ago.

PS And if you do get down about slipping, my experience is that since I don't drink alcohol, a Diet Coke or Coke Zero hits the spot like nothing else can. Feel free to try my method! I hope that was helpful!

Back in the day, I could go through two 2 liters a day. Sometimes more.

I come from an extended family that, for the most part, doesn't drink water and so that's something I had to learn as an adult. Maybe it's a southern thing, not sure. It was always Pepsi or Coke, Koolaid, juice, milk, etc. Now, I live in a culture where many people only drink water and most of the time it's hot or at least room temperature. Uugh!!
