What do you do in your retirement life??

As many of you know iam pretty much retired now and run a couple of hours of Doordash and Uber Eats as well as HEB favor early in morning after i drop the kids off at school.

It's not necessary that i do this but it keeps me busy and a nice additional spending money.

So usually iam home at around 11:30 am and have free until 4pm.

So the last couple of months i have been investigating the paranormal which takes up large part of that free time in the day (to which i have never thought i would be interested in it in a million years. Tell me this just two years ago and i would have said you're crazy!! )

Anyway, it's an enjoyable hobby's to have in retirement. I also play disc golf which is another great hobby i enjoy doing outside.

So what do some of you do to bide away your retirement time ???

  • yup that peace i am employed and i want that peace in home sweet home hahaha...

  • You favor HEB with your presence? Don't they pay you, lol

I think retiring in your 50's is very different to retiring in your mid to late 60's. I had a lot more good health and energy in my 50's and could never had conceived doing the very little I do now. I still have a keen interest in the paranormal, science and tech etc, but its not like I go dashing off to seminars etc, its mostly online.

Health and stamina are a key factor. You can have all the zest for life you ever had inside your head, but if you feel a little ill a lot of the time, you become less outgoing. Being financially secure is of course great but when your older it's less important. You don't feel the need to show off wealth and property etc. It becomes less of a thing, as well as caring passionately about the rest of the world and it's issues. Ironically, on that subject, I was watching a vid about super rich people who are now old and live frugally,. Clint Eastwood drives an old Pickup Truck and Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) who is now a billionaire and lives in a modest accommodation and gives a lot to charity.

Then there's family, a great support group of course, and you have children, that helps a lot, and you may see grandchildren from that. But, that aside, the family members have this annoying habit of popping their clogs before you do, such is almost the case with me, virtually no-one left. So it's a good idea to have a few friends and I have a few.

So I would say to you, keep as healthy as you can, keep as active as you can, then you may still have the energy to do stuff for as long as you can. If I felt like it, or up to it, it would be cruises and travelling.

Tell me, is the interest in the paranormal a reaction to feeling that you are closer to your time ending on Earth, seeking proof of an afterlife etc? Or just something to fill the void. No shame in that by the way. Many people develop this interest more as they age.

  • That mix of staying active with deliveries and diving into something unexpected, like the paranormal, is pretty cool. I'm not retired yet, but my dad I, and he's been getting into woodworking and volunteering at the local animal shelter, which keeps him busy and gives some structure to the days. I've heard a lot of people say retirement is the perfect time to explore stuff you never thought you'd be into, so it sounds like you're making the most of it.

  • Remembah, the parernormyool gaht more intrest in YOU than you gaht in IT.

Bcs yanno what in hell else it gonna do?

In Parernormyool Land, there ain't no movie theaters or theme parks.

An' the datin' scene is kinda noplace.

Explains why furnitchah gits moved around mysteriously an' hamstahs impregnated without explanayschwaahn.

Yeah, bcs I saw a YooToob las' week detailin' this precise phenomenon.

Sum 13yo kept hamstahs as a hobby, mebbe like 2 duzzin.

Natchrlly she kept strict rools ovah cage sharin' so she warn't eatin outta home by sum hamstah plague.

BUT this one hamstah kept gettin' impregnated, evin though it had its own cage.

Worse still, it was a GUY hamstah.

Her vet was clueless, her local priest denied any association with hamstahs, an' evin Disney had no ideah.

That's when she figured PARERNORMYOOL -- an' called in an exorcist.

Best parta the vid is where she hidin' behind her bed as the exorcist coaxes the deemins outta her weirdsy pet.

"Don't be alarmed if Cheeky's head starts turning through seven twenty degrees," says the exorcist.

"Long as it don't happen to me," the kid replies. "And you, of course. You're in charge, and if the demons get you, then we're all done for."

"That won't happen. That never happens."

    "Per cent?"

    "95. Easy."

"So ... how many of these have you done, mister?"

    "Thousands."

"Yeah, so it gotta be time, dontchya think?"

"That's not how math works, and it's more like 99 per cent anyway now I think about it."

"Yeah, but the demons don't give a hang about math, am I right? They just evil -- and the surefire way to be evil is to pull surprises."

    "We'll be fine."

"You mean I'll be fine, and the hamster will be fine -- but what about you? It's not like they don't know who you are and shit."

(The exorcist raises his hood here after a loooong pause.)

"Ok, we're done. Hamster is cured."

"Wait -- you didn't do nothing!"

"Exorcism is a subtle art, but nonetheless powerful."

    "Where you going?"

"My next assignment. But ... can I use your bathroom first?"

    "You shit yourself?"

    "Twice."

  • Being 82 years old I have a pretty full and active day.

Wake up around 6:30 or 7 take a very long pee.

Take short nap after long pee...

Walk the fur baby or rather he walks me.

Come back in drink coffee while I read for about 2 hours.

Take another long pee and a short nap.

Wake up pee again and dog takes me for a walk.

Come in take another pee and a longer nap.

Wake up from nap and time to eat lunch.

Finish lunch and time for a long pee and a longer nap.

Wake up and pee time again.

    Dog walks me again.

Come in and take a long pee and a long nap.

Wake up take a short pee and it's time for supper.

    You know what's next..

    Dog walks me again.

Come back in take a long pee and short nap.

Wake up take a long pee and doze off watching TV.

Get up take a long pee.

Go to bed for a long nights sleep. Wait...

    Also several short pees.

As you can see I'm very active for being 82 years old.

BTW I wouldn't know paranormal if it tapped me on the shoulder.

    Time to pee again.

  • Damn you l only came here to see if a miracle had happened or if Claude had commented but l guess l will have to say something now.

My trust in Doctors is at the national average, (and not the one Mass Media push).

Big Pharma and research facilities will never develop any cure that is cheap and affective and worse one that individuals could do themselves, never happen since their isn't any profit in it.

Sure it saves lives but they don't give a s...t about that only Profits.

But good luck to you, (l would think that recent events here make it pretty obvious blindly trusting is deadly).

WHAT!!! l mean $%^^ what! The UFO report l put here, (that was just before l was made a mod here, or before the dark times, before the empire) showed overwhelming evidence UFO's existed.

Good to hear your interest since full disclosure is going to happen soon, (Elon and the other one "T" will be landing a Robot on Mars in the next few years and their data is not going to match NASA's one) as well as astronauts will likely land on one of its moon in 2033 and show the world 4k images and video of the monolith, (no not that one) with carvings on it to the world then the 50 years of suppression will finally be over).

I expect that we will see Gray family's strolling through our shopping centers by the mid 2030's and no we won't be scared to death but won't care either.

And Mars will just be another tourist destination.

And l have just posted a very interesting Stephen Greer video series on UFO;s and consciousness you may find interesting.

    • There is another factor.

Humans look for answers to life's questions. In nearly every case, once the first attractive answer is given...or discovered....all further rational thought given to the subject is stopped.

Once a belief is accepted, it's now solidified as a "Truth" and then defended from any critique...because any argument is seen as an attack.

It's why you see intelligent people believing in all sorts of nonsensical things...even when real evidence shows that the belief is wrong.

We're all like this. It's in our DNA.

Educational level has something to do with it as well.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
    • I think we have established what Discrat is talking about, ET's. I have been looking at some stats. Approx 8 billion people currently living on the planet, a little under, but close. According to google AI reports that 24 percent of all Americans claim to have seen a UFO. So lets extrapolate that and say it's the same world wide. May be not so consistent as that but for the sake of argument, lets do it. So, that would be 1.92 billion people currently walking the Earth claim to have seen a UFO.

Of that I will be brutal and omit 95 percent of those people. We will be citing your lower cognitive observations, people you lie and just want to believe, people who are mad, deluded, or simply mistaking natural ariel phenomenon, planes etc. So that leaves us 5 percent who are articulate, trained observers, people who know what human flying craft look like and the limitation of their behaviors, people who know what astronomical phenomena looks like etc. Am I being fair?

So that leaves us with 96 million competent, intelligent, reliable people who have claimed to have seen a UFO and are currently alive. Lets look also into the fact that the vast majority of people now carry smart phones with camera and video recording capabilities. And that the capturing of this ariel phenomenon has gone up exponentially because of it. Also, in the last couple of years the quality of the camera and video capturing has gone up to being consistently HD and 4k. So clearer video and photo's are being produced,

Finally lets us look at the amount of people who own these camera phones are also competent in photoshop or CGI manipulation. Not a stat I can extrapolate from anywhere but I would not think it would be that high percentage wise.

So citing belief based on IQ and cognitive abilities is in my opinion irrelevant to this argument.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • I can understand both Don and Claude's views along with Mark's.

Concentrating on the former, I will add to Claude's diatribe that, YES , there are people who want to add meaning to their lives. Believing in entities outside the human race, gives them excitement and something to elude the boredom that so many people fall prey too.

Incidentally, I believe Shane is someone who is of high cognitive function and his beliefs are based on evidence BUT just seeing his writings here on the forum I would add that he really, really wants the ET and Alien "thing" to be true. I may be wrong but it sure seems that way, Shane.

For me personally, I dont give a rat arse either way. I really dont care as Iam one of those people who is even skeptical of my own Christain Faith.... so needless to say Iam good either way with the existence of aliens and UFOs or not. I dont NEED that to give meaning to my Life !!! So I am a true skeptic

Now that brings me to Mark. He eloquently gives stats that potentially support the conclusion of the possibility of ETs and UFOs not being just delegated only to people with low cognitive function or people that just "want to believe for the sake of believing ".

I would have to agree with him. The fact is in 2022 the US govt for the first time opened up a congressional group to specifically study the sighting of UAPs (Unidentified aerial phenomena)
On top of this , there are highly renowned astro physicists who have on RECORD say that they cannot explain certain data of UFO sightings and there is nothing Earthly about these sightings.

Also, over many decades US military pilots have on RECORD stated they could not identify certain aircraft on radar that were moving anywhere from 10,000 to 72,000 miles per hour. No earthly explanation from these pilots could be confirmed!!

So this is more than just severely marginalized cognitive functioning individuals. This goes way beyond that. It goes to rational and highly renowned minds that can't be just thrown to the wayside. They're puzzled by this sh!t and rightfully so !!

So hopefully in the next few decades more answers to these mysteries will be revealed!!
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • Groan a scientist that wants to rationalize anything he doesn't want to believe in is the worst person to ask. And sure there are types usually in minor fringe political parties who are bored and want something to hang onto and do things like destroying artwork.

The whole UFO thing all comes back to "are we it" or are we the only intelligent life anywhere?

This question is so similar to the Earth being at the center of the solar system, and as such based on the laws of probability and inprobability it has to be true, (other life forms).

There is other life out there it is just that some cannot handle it.

Here we go, l know someone on another forum who when l discussed Covid adverse reactions or my Mother unable to talk anymore he went way off the rails and accused me of lying. He put up a lot of flimsy evidence to prove l was lying and accused me several times of lying he even said, "you know you are lying".

I do have overwhelming evidence,(Peer reviewed report from Pfizer itself, (posted that on the Covid thread)) that l am right, but should l prove to him that he is wrong, no.

He was borderline schychotic and if l pressed he would have become that and likely caused no end of damage.

I pushed the Doctor statement as l am going through the adverse reactions on video and it isn't pretty and isn't rare.

Big difference between me pushing til someone proves me wrong and someone pushing until someone proves him wrong and he ignores that and tries harder.

Agreed it all gets back to fear, some would be scared shitless if a gray rang their doorbells and someone like me would be shocked but happy to talk.Or shoot either of us we will die, no difference their, it is fear embedded throughout our lives that is the issue not the alien itself.

If we see a gray family walking in a forest one day enjoying the experience should we get an axe and kill them all off? No since if we did we are acting out the worst part of our fear. Agreed fear is baseless in this discussion.

Agreed, but l know they are around just inpatient that they don't say Hi.

And thanks for the endorsement, true if l was nuts my forum would be a mess, or some major work l was doing would be a mess.

You cannot be a low IQ sucker, (l know Princess if you must) and do large projects successfully.

Or it is always the stupid ones with great power who mess things up then blame someone else and continue to make it worse.

That is one thing l have learn't recently in my country is not to trust other authority figures, and processes and trust in myself more.

I could actually show videos here now without her deleting it and writing up some antagonistic reason.

But l couldn't be bothered since that would lead to you showing some flawed data that the unvacced are the ones dropping dead still, and more flawed data showing numbers.

Then l would show real data against that and just like the Covid thread nothing gets resolved.

But l will say Kay trusted her Doctor who said, "All is well" after the operation which was likely a keyhole operation to put in a stint, and she died a week later, so her Doctor was wrong.

  • Claude, I'm very sorry to hear this. I've met Cheryl a handful of times and she's always been a pleasure. Over the years, you've spoken about her strength, her kindness, her devilish wit, and the love and bond between the two of you. That kind of grace leaves a mark. And it matters because this world needs more of it.

She has a daughter that's middle aged. She live close to us, and has her own family

It takes a lot sometimes to be open about things.

I thought when I retired, I would visit the world and sip margaritas on some beach somewhere with my woman--and no, not like a Bill Belichick woman--but it got boring quick.

I have all my businesses running on autopilot with someone in charge, so there's little I really need to do.

Now, I'm still looking for good opportunities all the time and investing in them if they seem worthwhile.

Still run every morning to keep my sanity.

Seems I'm busier now though than when I retired 15 or so years ago.
