If so, what kind?

What kind of return are you seeing?

      Not a bad idea

      From what I see though a lot of people hit the lotto by luck, they aren't the people who buy tickets daily/weekly, they'll just randomly go grab a ticket and hit it big.

      Very nice comment. Have never purchased a traditional lottery ticket in my life. Do admit to buying some bingo scratch offs when I had time to burn at the gas pump.

    Well... only *sometimes*... you know, just for the entertainment value

    Seriously, when the payout starts to get big (up around $100million) - I do buy tickets (yup, plural). I *know* the chances are... well... nearly 0... but... but... but...

    All it takes it *1* super duper crazy "omg I can't believe it" day... just 1 time That's *all* I'm asking for, really!

    Besides, it's my backup plan, you know, in case this whole IM thing doesn't pan out

    (Oh re: returns, I don't keep track. I've probably spent more than I've made, although at the end of last year - about the same time I had a crazy Yahtzee winning streak - I won a $150 payout on the lottery. That was nice. )

    I play the powerball once in awhile. It cracks me up when people only play when it hits xxx million. One or two mil isn't good enough? LMAO.

      It isn't necessarily that 1 or 2 million isn't enough (which, in reality, it isn't when you consider if you take the cash option you only get like 40 grand a year - is that enough to change your life? doubtful, even though its a nice extra bonus every year) but I think that a lot of people think that if they're going to waste a buck or 2 (or more!) on playing, they might as well shoot for a BIG payout. like, ok, do I want to burn a buck to win $1 million, or a $100 million? I know which I'd choose....

      No, I don't play it. I don't have any great problem with it but just better things to spend money on (food, mortage, etc).

      You don't get a "return" on a lottery - you only get a chance to hope and dream. Sometimes maybe the dream is worth a buck, but usually not.

    Hey guys,

    I agree with most people's sentiments BUT...

    ..about 4 months I missed out on winning $17 Million dollars on Lotto by one number and won $2000. So go figure.

    The main thing is that I haven't been feverishly playing ever since. That money went to something very worthwhile (my fiance )

      well, I'm a moderate lotto player and I buy scratch tickets, for entertainment purposes. I'm a lucky person. In order to win anything in life, you have to believe that it is possible but not need it to be possible, you know?

      Years ago I won $5000 on December 18th. Needlesss to say that year we had an excellent Christmas and New Years celebration

      The year after that I won $1000 on a scratch ticket. The date was November 11 and we totallly forgot that "government offices" were closed for Rememberance Day and we drove from our country home all the way to Toronto to collect our winnings only to find the lottery office closed. Doh!
      We drove back the next day, and every single penny of that $1000 went into my car's repairs.

      but throughout the years I've had numerous $100, $50, $25, $10,and so forth...small wins. I'm grateful for those wonderful gifts from the Universe.

      as long as the gambling doesn't ruin your lives and it's just for your entertainment and you just have fun with it, I don't see the harm in buying lottery tickets. After all, it only takes one ticket and it could be yours. You just never know.

    Hehe, it's a great hope giver to poor folks, nothing more. Change of winning is so small that it's more than very much likely you'll never win big. But keep pooling the money, every week somebody is going to get rich
