A movie that make you cry..?

I probably shouldn't say this, but I saw The Green Mile when it came out, and remember having a drop of salt water in my eyes at one point.

old yeller was a serious tear jerker back in the day.

saving private ryan does it to me, but just one part. When the medic gets shot. He's trying to evaluate his own wounds, then finds out its his liver, he's the only one in the group that would be able to possibly fix himself, and realizes he's done. The thought of being a 20 something year old kid, thousands of miles away from home, dying, KNOWING he's dying, then slipping off into the darkness calling for his momma.

I love Finding Nemo - It's that first scene that makes it such a powerful movie and live up to it's name. Plus ellen degeneres is incredible in this movie...

  I shouldn't admit this and you may not believe it ... (and please, PLEASE don't tell my wife I am actually admitting an inclination towards sensitivity!) ... but, a few nights ago, we watched Will Ferrell's Stranger Than Fiction and towards the end of the movie, I was beginning to feel the onset of an uncharacteristic emotional response ... thank goodness my dear spouse did not notice!
  
  (There have been a few other movies that made me cry, too, but not because they were sad or good ... only because they were bad and I was sorry I had wasted the time and the money!) lol

Oh Wow - Kurt, Ken ---- you beat me to it. Old Yeller was the first one to ever tear me up a little bit (yes, Ken - I'm old, too.) I usually don't cry during movies about humans, but give me a sad animal story and I'll sob like a kid who just got their candy stolen.

There's one infomercial about this 8 year old orphaned african kid taking care of his 3 younger brothers that gets to me every time I see it.

I also just saw a story on ESPN about a 12 year old kid that has had cancer 8 times and had to have an eye removed when he was 2 (?). However, cancer returned and he needed to have his other eye removed. Watching the kid going into surgery, knowing he would come out blind was gut-wrenching. It really makes you wonder why life can't be more fair.

Old Yeller was just my first lesson in how tough life can be some times...

Can I say... I didn't like Finding Nemo... Please don't kill me (hides).

My fave animations are Aladin, Shrek 2 and The Incredibles.

Still, none of these made me cry.

Probably the latest movie that got me emotional was Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants. Ok you can stop laughing now. Still though, I didn't cry (I don't think).

King Kong, I cant watch the ending
Mr Hollands Opus, this movie inspired me to become a teacher. The problem is all my students have seen me cry, mainly over the next movie, and I watch it every year.
Gallipoli, about the ANZAC's heroic fight agiants the Turks in WW1.

For me, the big one is Cars. It's the part where Lightning McQueen goes back for the King and says he just figured the King should finish his last race. Gets me every single time.

The Incredible Journey, also tears of joy! Children and their pets reunited! Reminds me of when my puppy was lost for two days in the fields, when I was just little girl! Happy emotion filled reunions, they get me everytime!

My list of movies that have made me cry would be longer than the number of years I have been around. (And that's saying a lot.) I am just a crier. My husband laughed at me early on in our marriage, because I cried over an episode of Benson (a sitcom.) But Benson's mother died in that episode. Yeah, I even tear up over a sappy commercial sometimes.

Star Trek (2009) movie: Right at the beginning when Captain George Kirk sacrifices his own life to safe hundreds of his crew members, including his wife and newborn son, James Tiberius.

Watched it in the theatre a few months ago. Watched it again tonight on DVD. Forgot about that emotionally charged opening scene!

I don't go to horror movies the same reason I don't watch tear jerker movies,

1) The IRS is one example of life making you lose your taste and fun to be scared..,

I'd cry again today if I watched old yeller

There is one older movie called "Somewhere in Time" that made me cry but crying over a movie is very unusual for me. The exception is any movie where an animal gets hurt - even though I know it's not real.

Like Sancho I cried at Titanic because I realized I had spent real money to see it. Its one of those movies where I didn't want my money back - I wanted the TIME back....

of course being a he man type of guy I don't cry - but do remember getting something in my eyes during Mr. Holland's Opus, UP!, and old yeller.

Had to explain to my youngest son that I wasn't crying during Up! just had something in my eye - somehow I got the feeling he didn't believe me.....

The only time I've ever cried during a film was the original 'Airbud,' the one where the dog played soccer. The scene where the boy runs through the field looking for airbud but can't find him. I was also seven.

Films aren't good enough these days to make me elicit much of any emotion, yet alone crying.

At least I'm not the only one this happens to. I think it started with that Tim Horton's commercial (for all my Canadians out there, you probably know what commercial I'm talking about). Ever since I saw it, any movie/show/commercial that has a hint of sadness to it, I cry.

I don't even bother changing the channel anymore. I just put the remote down and walk out the room.

I see that many people seem to like "The Green Mile" so I rented it and hope to watch it in the next few days. If it is as good as most people say it is I may have to change the movie I listed about. Thanks for starting this thread, for me this is a good way for me to choose some good movies to watch.

Usually when one or two people tell me a movie is good it is not something I like, but I have talked to six or seven people about "The Green Mile" and they all loved it, so I can't wait to watch it.

Planes Trains and Automobiles.(after laughing until my sides hurt the twist at the end got me)
Rudy (the ultimate underdog movie)
My Dad was at Normandy Beach and I watched Saving Private Ryan with him. Seeing him cry really did me in. He's gone now and I don't think I'll ever watch that movie again.

The last 5 mins of ET - saw it with my fiancée (now wife) when it was first released. Nearly bust a blood vessel trying to keep the tears in! It was funny seeing most of the blokes all red-eyed as we came out of the cinema. Whenever I watch it now, I just unashamedly let the tears roll.

The last scene from The Elephant Man - John Merrick (played by John Hurt) go's to sleep without his pillow, knowing that without his head propped up he will die.

The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It's one of those movies that made me cry but I also felt good afterwards. It made me appreciate life better

I shed a tear during the Jimmy episode of Quantum leap. The whole episode was such a contrived tear-jerker I never thought it would would get to me but it did. Recently, there is a show in the UK called Silent Witness and there was a quite harrowing episode about a 15 year old girl who had been tortured in her country and was all alone in the UK. There was scene when she looks up with such hope in her eyes but you know that the news is going to be bad. That look got to me.

When I was lil and The Little Mermaid came out, I cried at the end when Ariel left her Daddy and everyone else in the sea to be a human

Then My Girl when the boy died at the end.

That's about it. I don't watch much movies, especially sad ones or chick flick sad romantic ones. Now I just roll my eyes while everyone else cries if I happen to see a tear jerker type

True but it was Titanicized. In that the story around it was made up. But a heartbreaker.

The scenee where he goes to visit the Dr and his wife and shows the picture of his mum..and tells them how disappointed she must have been with him......He was so humble but treated so badly. Oh gee my eyes are swelling up.

I too never used to ever think about this in movies until the lst 5 years or so....??? Male menapuase? :-(

Especially since it was a true story!

OMG Practically any movie geared to jerking tears and even some that aren't deliberate...but the worst EVER was The Colour purple - the only book I ever read three times before the film...so three seconds into the film I was ready to let rip!! Big red puffy shamed face coming out of the film into bright lights of the Foyer

The news.....ads....radio interviews.... Pathetic really!
