i know we don't say this enough in life... but i really enjoy you guys here and just love this little corner of the universe called the off topic forum!!

i wish it was more active on a daily basis but i guess you always don't get what you want.

Anyway, that's it, don't want to get too sappy but just wanted to let you know how many of you for the last 18 years have turned into dear friends of mine

Cheers

Robert, I've never been active much in the OT section. I've read many threads but just didn't feel like I had anything clever to say most of the time. However, your college football threads every year, make my day - even when my boys are losing. Thank you for that.

I know about the friends thing. There are people that I genuinely miss and think about often. Top of my list is Kay. Even though we never met in person, she was as real of a friend over many years as anyone in real life. There are others I miss, like Kurt. I know why he stopped visiting but he left a hole when he took his wisdom and knowledge with him.

I just saw Frank Falcone's Youtube page. His sister posted that he died two years ago, and it was posted July of 2025.

A real loss. He was my friend.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Yes. He was entertaining (and he was an entertainer earlier in his life), and knew more about selling than just about anyone I knew.

I think he told me he used to work with an improvisational group, like Second City.

But he used to call me and get all bothered about politics. But he was kind enough to give me the entire sales presentation for the Better Business Bureau, calling small business owners. It was the best scripted presentation I've ever heard. And he had a real deep understanding of why it worked, something I almost never see.

Anyway he was a joy to talk to.

yeah i think Frank knew he didn't have much time left; just remembering some of his health issues.

i remember having a debate with him about what you call a BMW automobile .whether it was called a Beemer or Beamer.

What a really good guy who was an absolute character in the best of ways

I didn't know that about his selling skills. He mentioned a few times working as an entertainer. In some of his posts here. When Kay was still here. I asked if she had heard from Frank in the middle of the Summer. She said his BMW was still parked in his driveway. Sad to see we lost two big names around here. R.I.P. Frank, condolences to his friends and family.

It's rare to find places like this that actually last. Nearly two decades is a long time to keep a community going.

Imagine the hapless state of the forums where we all ain't.

They must be gowin' outta their brayinns for succor jus' squoits from this place.

        Considah PASTRY FIENDS.

They hot on home cookin', an' big name chefs get centah stage in their weekly FILO UNDER EXPERT blahg mastahclass.

Yeah -- but where is the life-enhancin' bitchin'?

The killah intel drahped like farts on a speshly gassy Toosday?

The desperado quality of the spammahz?

Like Joni Mitchell said, "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" -- an' them Pastry Fiend types figure they PINNACKYOOL on their homesy blahblablahfest.

Tellya, I could weep for the fkrs.

In the context of the busy 2026 world, your "sappy" moment is actually restorative. It prevents the forum from feeling like a ghost town and reminds everyone that they aren't "lost and powerless" in the digital void. Utilizing Emildon live chat on a community landing page could act as a digital intern, triaging new members into the "off-topic" flow and helping them find that same reliable presence you've enjoyed for 18 years. It's about ensuring the "How and When" of community growth stays human-centric.

I learned how to sell here. It's basically the only place I could find that would answer my sometime really dumb questions.

Claude and Jason K. are still there. savidge4 from time to time. But there was also Kenmichaels, AaronDaoud, kirbyconcierge, mistrme and others from the Offline.

To the rest of the world, I'm just some random tech bro. But the WF forms the basis from which I understand human beings today.

    Anyways thanks all good night.
