Why do people on social media come down hard on freakish bodies ( muscles) posing on the internet

I can spot a steroid user almost immediately. It's really pretty easy. There is just that unnatural look and almost superhuman quality to them .

One of the tell tale signs is to look at the deltoids and if they are bulging out to the side with large very defined striations that's a big clue right there.

So anyway why does social media go batshiit crazy when they see these freakish monsters posting their pics online ? Well mainly because these behemoths talk about how creatine and eating clean has enabled them to be 6 feet 255lbs with 5% body fat.

it's all bullshiit, they know it we know it ... that it's steroids like teststorerone that enables them to be that way. Not eating more creatine and drinking protein shakes.

I would have much more respect for them if they just came out and talked about the cycle they are on instead of this stupid facade they put out.

Your thoughts ??

Not all are on steroids. And even if they take testosterone, they also work out like madmen and eat right. Steroids alone won't build those bodies. And genetics carries a lot of the load. You have to be genetically predisposed to grow huge muscles for steroids to work as they do in the most muscular men.

Why do we criticize them so?

You're too young to remember. But I do.....in the 50s and 60s, if you worked out, had a great physique, and ate healthy...you were considered a "Health nut".

But the guys that train for maximum size? I suspect they are compensating for low self esteem, or have the mistaken belief that most women find these hyper muscular men irresistible.

I have a good friend that won the Mr. Ohio contest several decades ago. I asked him about steroids, and he said he used them for only a short time. He said that, although they made him stronger, they also made injuries more likely. Steroids don't build tendon, joint, or ligament strength.

And using steroids over a long period of time actually makes your organs grow too, and eventually makes your muscles shrink. Old bodybuilders and pro wrestlers that have abused steroids for decades are a physical wreck by the time they are sixty...if they live that long.

If you look at old photos of bodybuilders from the 1930s and 40s...you'll see what training alone can do. It's still impressive.

I just watched a special on CNN about steroid abuse among very young men. And yes, they grow fast, and are hyper muscular. But years of hard training and healthy eating will get maybe 95 percent the same results. Just not as fast.

By the way, a 20 year old healthy man's body is flooded with testosterone anyway. A few of these guys take eventually lethal doses out of their excitement and ignorance.

Added later; Why do we criticize the very well developed? The super attractive? The rich? The genius?

It makes us feel better about ourselves. That's my experience.

Are YOU one of the muscle-bound hunks that's receiving all that hate?

Because inquiring minds need to know.

Please respond soon because these are the sorts of things that keep me up at night.

I started training in a gym a few weeks ago, as opposed to just training at home.

This is a serious gym. The owners are both world record holders in power lifting, and were body builders that have a wall of trophies. The husband (It's a couple) was Mr. Ohio a couple decades ago.

They are the nicest, most decent people I know outside Cheryl's family. And there are many extremely muscular men and women there. It's a serious gym.

So far, I've met one meat head Bro....and a couple dozen of the nicest people you could meet. Riddle me this.....why are the most powerfully built men usually the nicest, kindest people?

Because they don't see anyone else as a threat. The same goes for champion boxers and martial artists. They don't pick on other people, because they are strong.

Bullies pick on others because they have low self esteem and lack confidence in themselves. And the people that say rotten things about well built people they don't know personally? My guess is that they are compensating.

It's easier to say things to bring others down, than to put in any effort to improve your own lot in life.

I'll get off my soapbox now. and.....this is all just my experience. Yours may vary.

  • Judging, or the fear of judging, I guess, holds me back from the gym. I love judging others but just don't like it when it's done to me.

That's a good step forward, Claude. Let us know how it works out. The nearest gym to us is 40 minutes away. My Chinese isn't good enough to know all the exercise words because they aren't part of my daily vocabulary. They'd tell me to do a bench press, and I would start squatting.

Mark; When someone teases me, sometimes I'll say "You need to know this about me. I can dish it out, but I can't take it".

Sometimes, I just want to amuse myself.

you know what, i just have a strong disdain towards going to the gym. Last time i went i stayed in the car for 20 minutes trying to motivate myself to get out of the car and go inside to do my bike routine.

Anymore i do Walking and it takes no motivation to get outside to do it

I actually went to the gym to just see the owners. Friends I had when I used to go to that gym.....45 years ago.

I had forgotten how much I liked them. I decided to join again for three reasons.

        1) I work out at home, but some of the exercises are really strenuous. And I'm a 71 year old man that lives alone. My nightmare is that I would have a stroke and not be found for a month. So, better to do the heavy stuff with others there to help if needed.

        2) It's one of the only social things I do. So part of it is getting out of the house every day.

        3) I've recently decided that I'm going to try to find someone I like to date. And.......lots of fit older women at the gym.

By the way, the county fair is next week. And.....I'm going to go walk around there every day so I can be seen. I know there are at least a few single/divorced/widowed women that I'd find attractive that are customers that already like me.

It's worth a shot. If not, I'll still get my cardio and sunshine.

          Circumference Bloom ...

"Hey, did you know these are actual karate pants?"

She giggles, then re-engages. "Weird, they don't look at all ... *flappy*"

"Sure. Yeah. I get it. I had 'em taken in."

"So where in hell were they before? Like, a tent? You could smother a dozen people in these already."

          "My circumference is my bloom."

"And you're a sweeper expert also? I'm hooked babe! Catch me before I faint!"

          *violins sound*

*plus also considrbyool disgruntlement from the treadmill areah*

          "Did I mention I was a psychopath?"

"No need. I figured already. Why, you are so Professor X it is untrue."

          *more violins sound*

"I shave my head regularly, in conjunction with natural testosterone."

*an angelic voice bursts into song*

"Is that ... is that ... Dan Riffle?"

Janno, this could go anyplace ...

  • When I was young, all that was cool. If I ever get to a point where I'm jiggling less than a bowl of Jello, I might consider going back to a gym.

On the other hand, maybe that's why I still have too much "jiggle," because I'm not doing it and no one is beside me pushing me forward. I could bench press and squat more than anyone else on my high school football team. My teammates screaming at me, pushing me to do better, made me better. Then I found out the very hard way about things that can go wrong when you are trying to deal with hundreds of pounds on your shoulders trying to squat. Freak accident led to a doctor telling me I can't play or lift anymore if I still want to use my arm. All the sudden, excelling at heavy lifting wasn't fun any more. I went to a gym with my mom a few years later, but it just wasn't the same.
