    I think the problem is actually that Canadians don't really understand what football is. What they call football is neither British football, nor American football. It's some weird hybrid thing that doesn't make any sense, because in Canada, only a misfit wouldn't be playing hockey in the first place.

      Canadians are sort of a hybrid between Brits and Americans. Chimeras, if you will.

      Many of them may be preoccupied with that fast paced, brutal, war of attrition sport curling.

      Canada does have a pretty good football (US) league. While not exactly the same as American football, it's still pretty much the same game.
