They're the same to me, except Vista isn't letting me play a few games that work just fine in XP >.<

Which do YOU like better?

And if you like Vista better, do you play older (pre-2005) games, and if so, how do you get them to run?

No contest: XP. It seems to be far friendlier with more programs. It's not quite as pretty as Vista (and now, Win 7), but it's still my favorite.

XP. Vista is garbage. I play a lot of pre '05 games. If you are a true gamer, you can strip xp down for speed and make your rig a true weapon of doom. With vista, its a hog, you can only turn off so many things and it just wont allow itself to be tuned for maximum gaming performance for stuff like fast twitch fps gameplay.

That's basically what my brother did - he has both XP and Vista installed on his computer, I'm not sure what he put on it but he can play Crysis without a hitch...

He says he uses DosBox to get the really old games to run (early 90's), and I heard somewhere else it works with Vista but I'm not sure how to set it up.

For the record, what are your favorite games?

I am a Medal of Honor: Allied Assault ninja. I have been playing it since it came out and i litterally can hear fans chanting my name and flashbulbs going off like a michael jordan flashback while playing. I'm also a big fan if Quake III. I am feared far and wide in Call of Duty servers. I have been known to play counterstrike, but I dont like to admit to it in public.

I used XP since the it first came out until 2 weeks ago when I got a new laptop with win 7 on it. I have to say, it is much much better in so many ways. The taskbar is brilliant.

My parents had a big chunky laptop with Vista on it and it was really slow despite having a decent processer etc. The whole thing just feels laggy and slow. If the choice is between XP and Vista, go with XP all the time. Windows 7 is still better than them both I say. It took me about 90 minutes to get used to everything and I haven't looked back since.

      Hi there,
I think that XP was much better because when i use vista i found it very slow if you have very high profile system then you can directly go to windows 7 it was awesome...

Definitely XP. Vista is so much more pretty, but it gives me more problems than xp. I've had a computer with xp for about 4 or 5 yrs now with it's usual problems. The Vista op on another computer isn't even a year old and I'm getting worried cuz it's acting like the other computer already. Xp hands down.

    Hey Emily,

You and I still owe each other a game if I remember correctly

Try and right clicking the game icon, and choose "run as administrator" for some of the games that are not working. Vista can be a pain.

I am an XP fan. For some reason, I think Windows Seven is going to get real popular in about six months once everyone realizes that is actually works. . .contrary to Vista

I have Vista in this machine and can't complain.

Truth is I don't play games here, just in my Playstation. This is a work machine and so far, so good.

For me my vote is all time with xp. I just love to use my xp. There is no competition for xp. Vista can't beat xp.

Why do people hate vista so much? I have not had a single problem with it, but then again, I needed a new computer at the time I brought it so I did my research and made sure my components were vista ready (according to the stickers on the boxs) and didnt just buy it hoping it would run which is the impression I get from most people who do not like it.

I got a windows experience index number of 5.2 and that is with an old 7600gt graphics card for the computer gamers here. and have no performance issues even with the display settings at maximum.
