Wow. Isn't that sort of an icon in the area? I'm suprised , but at the same time i'm not. I think people are seriously starting to tighten their belts.

A new york restaurant that cant make it, that does not seem right.

It is an icon, Michael, and it's very sad to see this happen. But it is what it is and when a restaurant goes away from what it did when it first opened - serving quality food at a good price, not overpriced - to trying to compete with restaurants with much more funding, much more PR, etc this happens.

They most certainly didn't stay to the fundamentals that made it so popular.

I haven't looked into it but if it's less then 10 million in unpaid debt I wouldn't be surprised to see someone step forward to help stabilize the place a bit. :-)

Ate there many times. Sad to see NYC lose a treasure like this...
The government would have been better off bailing out the Tavern on the Green instead of Chrysler....
Still...how does a single restaurant go over 8 million in debt???
