I'll admit to watching idol..its not too bad i guess. Last night i tried watching 'jersey shore' on mtv..i swear i wanted to poke my eyes out with a knitting needle after about 20 minutes. I mean I dont hang out with a lot of 20 somethings, but are all of them this vapid and generally stupid? I'm sure my memory is a bit skewed but i dont remember being that self centered and just generally ignorant when i was 20 something.

Then I happened upon the kardashians...and I was ashamed and embarrassed. I was ashamed that a national figure like Bruce Jenner has to take lip from an bunch of bimbettes who's only real claim to fame is that they have a sister who was stupid enough to film herself having sex and post it on the internet.

I just can't watch this garbage

Jersey Shore is popular among the 13-15 year old set. One of my nieces put it on yesterday and as soon as she left the room, I switched that crap off...lol.

I'm not a fan of "reality" tv anyway.

I only watch American Idol, and that's it! Well, I watch the weather channel sometimes too.

But mostly smut is found everywhere else!

Yeah I only like watching it in the early stages when the bad singers come on and make a fool of themselves. It never gets old watching someone who can't sing get up there and sing for the world! Sometimes the singers are so bad that I think that this has to be a setup. Do these people really think they can sing?! This is my entertainment for the day!

Last year I knew someone in the competition that made it all the way to the Top 36, and I watched most all of the shows, but I am going back to watching the early auditions this year.

Yaa ,I did .But I feel all are somehow same, one is the copycat of other ,the only changes are in there name and TV channel. They are just making fool to the audiance and earning money through sms voting. Some times there results are also suspecting.Judges fight scenes are really funny, these are planned only for gaining public attention.Nothing is real.

Reality TV shows aren't about 'real' people. The people in them are just fame hungry wannabes who play to the camera.

I like Operation Repo, about some repossesors in the LA area. They got shot at, sprayed with mace, punched, kicked...One guy even set off a bomb to scare them away...Now that's a tough job.

Nah - can't watch watch them.

I even turned idol off the other night because the "guest judge" was a giggly blond bimbo and not worth watching...and I usually like the "auditions" better than the show.

I get reality all day - if I do plop in front of a TV at night I want some action like NCIS or the mentalist or a comedy that actually makes me smile on occasion.

I think Survivor is a pretty good show.

The beginning with shelter building and fire making is interesting to me.

Near the end of the game the social play is fun seeing how they attempt to outsmart each other.

The competitions are sometimes a bit goofy but it's fun to have someone to cheer for.

I know that at times they cut the show so that it puts a spin on what actually happens, but it's pretty exciting.

Was that Avril Lavigne? She certainly didn't come across well. And I wish they'd give the sob stories a rest.

But...I love America's Next Top Model...I even watch the reruns.

Drew the line at the UK Celebrity Big Brother though. Watched 10 minutes and didn't have a clue who most of them were.

    Hey, Michael:

    I hear ya, brother!

Have I tried watching reality shows? I have tried ... but ... well, I can relate to your reference to knitting needles.

A few years ago, (thanks to my wife) I did take an interest in American (and Canadian) Idol for a couple years or so. But since then, it's a no-go for me.

However ... Kurt just mentioned a show called Operation Repo ... THAT sounds like a show I could get into! Except I don't subscribe to cable or satellite so I'm out of luck.

I pretty much despise all reality shows. I used to watch The Real World years ago, but now I rarely watch TV. Aside from the scripted issue is the fact that reality shows basically feature people who are looking for fame and attention at any cost. The casting directors select people based on who they think will generate attention and entertainment value, not based on what the typical 20-something (or whatver demographic the show is about) is like.

If they selected a bunch of emotionally healthy, well-adjusted people who got along well, then no one would watch. So they select drama queens and jerks for the train wreck factor, and mix in a couple of relatively normal people so that the viewer has someone they can relate to at least a little bit.

I like Pawn Stars too, and know the place well from my years of driving a cab in Las Vegas, it's the place I used to take people that asked me to take them to a pawn shop. I like trying to guess who the real degenerates are, who are selling stuff because they lost tons of money in the casinos...Which is why LV is a great town to own a pawn shop. The Old Man and Chumlee are great characters.

    Thats true Kurt.
I'm no expert on pawn shops or the business, but in my opinion Vegas is the only place you'd find a shop like the one on the show.

I don't watch much TV in general and I certainly don't watch reality TV shows. I think I watched some survivor when it first started out, but that's about it. The only show I can't wait to watch more of is Lost which premiere's Tuesday 8/7c on ABC.

My idea of a reality show is to go to the mall and sit in the food court.
As for TV the closest I come is Jerry Springer. If I'm not on that days show, I know it's going to be a great day and that all is good in my life

I can't stand reality shows, but my Mother In Law loves them. She has been staying with us since last week and is not due to go home until Tuesday. I try to be a good hostess and sit around and chat with her about it while she watches this stuff, even though I would much rather do something else, but last night when some kind of reality dating program came on I just had to get up and leave her to it for the sake of my sanity I don't even know what it was called - I couldn't bring myself to hang around for long enough to find out.

It's going to be a long forty eight hours and judging by what has preceded them they are going to be spent watching wannabees sing, fat people get thin and 'celebrities' trying to quit smoking. I'm an Internet Marketer - get me out of here

Yes! Though, I'm not a fan of it. Most of the time, I'm watching a reality show only during the middle of the show. Why? Cause I can't stand seeing other people doing stupid things in order to be qualify in a particular reality show. Just for example, American idol wannabe who is not capable of singing? Something like that.

Realtiy shows now are the same. Big brother is on its 9th series, and is garbish compared to other shows. I think its mostly those who just want fame rather than a bit of fun. I prefer reality shows with a difference. SAS are you tough enough was brilliant normal civvies going though selection why isnt there any more of these type of reality shows.
