Whats up with Russian blog comments?

I just went into a blog I haven't been in for awhile and I had a ton of comments. Most of these appear to be from Russia and for the most part look like legitimate comments. I know they likely have an agenda. Does anyone have a clue of what they are up to? No good probably but what would it be?

    Seems like the standard form of link spamming most warriors do. Reasonable comments with a link. SOP

    i get a lot from russia and china...atleast they have emails that have russian and chinese domains. usually they start out as canned responses like 'i like you writing style, i'll be coming back' or something similar. normally i'd let my ego tell me they really did like my writing style, but these are rss feed blogs .

    then there usually starts a flood of posts that are very wordy but usually have links for porn and viagra
