Backlinking services -- I don't freaking think so.

Okay - recently I bought into several backlinking service WSO's.

Now I could shoot myself for doing so.

I have a WP and since I bought into these services I am getting spam link comments continually. I don't know who it was that decided I was a good target.....but you know something?...Since I have seen the vapid, empty comments that are being placed just to get a link up, I am just horrified that my site was, with my permission, placed on sites across the net in the same vapid idiotic fashion.

Hell, there is one post I made on my Blog asking for information about a particular issue if anyone has it and someone is linking the comment that it was such an informative post and they are so glad they found the info and will certainly be back for more..yadda yadda. God - I hope the DON'T come back. I'm getting tired of sh**canning them every time they do.

I seriously hope that others that find my link on such vapid or completely idiotic posts will delete mine as well so I don't need to suffer the embarrassment of having my link seen in connection with them. Thank God I only bought very small packages.

Note - whoever grabbed my WP link for your services (yes, I've checked the links being placed and they are coming from members of this forum) PLease note that these links are not being placed they are being trashed every time so unless you can actually put some very focused info very related to the post you are linking to - which you probably can't unless you are a gem hunter or gold prospector - you might as well dump my WP off your list.

Now I might hire out an individual at some point to do some backlinking for me - but it will be an individual and not a service so I can monitor the quality of content being posted in my name as they work.........but it seems that all I've done is paid to have my name whipped around the net as a spammer and idiot and had my email and WP listed as a spam haven.

God as my witness I will never buy into another linking service as long as I live. Trust me on that one.

Quantity crap backlinks/services are very highly over-rated... (not to mention will land your site on who knows how many "Hey Go Spam Your Links Here" special reports)

I have a brand new site, just launched the first of this year, and it's now a PR4, and 260,000'th most popular in alexa, and guess how many different sites are linking to my site?

    10.

That's right... only 10 quality sites are linking (that I mostly did myself) and I really have no need to spend any more time than that few days of backlinking I did in the beginning. Sure, I will gradually build more quality backlinks over time, but I don't need to build thousands of crap backlinks, by comment spamming, profile spamming, etc... which is what most of these "backlink services" tell you to do, or will spam for you if you buy their service.

Hiring spammers does not make it right. It's still spam, and you will receive spam in return.

Remember everyone... Build Quality Backlinks, not quantity.

I couldn't agree more with you on this one! I outsourced linkbuilding ONE time and that site was immediately de-indexed. No more, uh-uh, no way.

Ive noticed ive got someone hammering one of my sites too. Probably around 30 comments a day. and im pretty sure that they got picked up by the linking service by someone in this forum.

Now most of them are so middle of the road in content, that they actually look like they are legit comments so i let some of those through, i figure it makes the blog look active (its an rss blog anyway). But i get some that appear to be some kind of 'conversation' going on and im getting bits and pieces of it posted as comments to my blog. I also notice they never seem to post on front page posts, its always stuff thats way back in the depths of the blog.

I dont know why they would even bother with this blog, it a pr1 automated blog that gets minor traffic at best

lots of them seem to be from china/russia too

Sal - at least you did connect the dots. Many never seem to do that.

It's interesting to see people post recommending outsourcing backlinks (or doing it themselves) using forum profiles and blog comments anywhere they can insert their link. They are often the same people complaining about it happening on their own sites.

If you hire someone to do the "talking" for you online - better make sure that person doesn't make you look less than bright!

I have outsourced directory links with good results - but would not outsource anything else to do with linking. If I don't want it done on my own sites - I'm not going to do it to other site owners.

It may work for some people - but it's not for me.

Kay - I will qualify that I don't see bookmarking as much of a problem - after all that's just people linking up your site to be seen on social media, anyone can like a webpage and bookmark it - but when it comes to blogs, forums, etc. I think I learned that it's best to be self-invested or have one trusted contractor that you can be assured to have common sense about quality and knowledge of the subject to which they post comments -- that person probably earns above board payment, too, so either do it yourself or spring for the quality.
