I Want To Kick My Employee Out Of The Country
Hi All,
There's quite an interesting story to this so I hope you will indulge me for just a few minutes.
Late last year I started studying some personal improvement material (mainly from Jim Rohn). I had quite a few 'wow' moments whilst realizing how little I'd done in around 28 years of employment and business ownership. I have a couple of small businesses but the bigger one, an IT consulting business has broken even for the past 10 years or so. I've been pretty much a 'silent ' owner (read neglectful) for the past 5 years while I worked from home.
So here's the fun bit - I called a meeting of my 3 staff and laid out a plan with 1 year, 5 year and ten year goals. I told them a little bit about the wonderful new outlook I have and how we are going to work to a plan, make changes, pay bonuses and all sorts of good stuff.
After I got about half way through explaining what we were going to do, one of my staff said that he should tell me, before I continue, that he is leaving in May to travel overseas. I didn't panic or get upset. He's in his early 20's and I was young once and I think if I'd had the opportunity to travel overseas I would have grabbed it with both hands.
Anyways, I just found out today that he is one of fifteen people chosen as contestants in a free two week trip to Costa Rica. It wasn't in his travel plans but I guess he heard about it and entered. It works on a combination of the number of votes and the original submission.
He's been a godsend for us at my little business. Very dedicated... really good customer care and a great work ethic. So I'd really like to help him if I can. His name is Chris Richardson and you can read the submission that he made at:
