Never understood that word, Expert.

How can you be an ex-pert when you've never even been a pert?

Or is it derived from an olde english term, ex-spurt? So it's somebody who used to spurt but no longer is able to, or willing to spurt?

Eeww! I'm not sure I'm old enough to be an ex-spurt and I don't think I ever want to be one.
