The article is more of an indictment against trusting too much in computer systems... you could find a dishonest person anywhere who might pull something like this, it's not something exclusive to banks.

It's a good article, actually -- the same company that makes the ATMs makes many of the nation's voting machines. If one can be hacked, so can the other.

Exactly, and don't think it's never happened. Probably more than we know with both the donkey party and the elephant party. Bush did it in Ohio. Ya, ya, sounds like a conspiracy theory mumbo jumbo. That's what I thought, too. Until I read an article about the guy who was smart enough to do it admitting they did it (with his help). Funny how nobody really talks about it in the press, right?

I know, this is political and we shouldn't get in to a discussion about politics even on the off topic forum. So I'll stop!

That's right Ken - and don't forget the bank's insurance will almost always reimburse you when you lose money through your bankcard, etc. even if they had nothing to do with it.

The 'insider' concept is hard to believe though because having worked at banking headquarters for 15 years (3 mega banks) I know that people are screened by the FBI not only in pre-employment but periodically throughout their employment.

Not to say the banks are not mercenary and bloated and sucking consumers dry while they lavish their dimwit executives with a greedy amount of bonuses, etc....

... but that will be another tirade.

Banks, merchant processors, and credit card companies make massive money for doing nothing but skimming hardworking people's money. For example, 2% or more of every credit card transaction at small businesses goes to the credit card company (maybe some to the shyster who sold whatever pos machine), 7 cents or more for every debit transaction goes to the bank (maybe a cut to lying sales rep) and banks also charge business owners for merely having a business account on top of their myriad of thieving service charges. The word for such behavior is "parasite."

A GOOD company pays almost 2% to START! The industry probably makes upwards of 2.5% on EVERY transaction, and the average is probably DOUBLE that!

Did you know it is ILLEGAL, in the US, to charge more for credit card purchases, but you CAN give a discount for cash!? ODD! The SICK thing is everyone REALLY pays more, because the credit card companies pay less than you charge. So you buy an item for $100, the store ends up getting maybe $96, and the other $4 is split amongst all the credit card facilitators. SOME may say "Well, they need to get paid". Most of the $4 is PERCENTAGE! SO, if you buy something for $100000, their payment is close to $4000.

That is *******VERY******* hard to believe! One person I knew at a bank managed the bond cage, and the FBI didn't know he was with a mafia crime syndicate!?!?? HECK, there are SO many HEAVILY dishonest people in finance, that I DOUBT they are checked out. The FBI has my fingerprints on file because I had a series 6, and 26, license, but they apparently never investigated me. Yet I could sell securities. The banks let me in, though NOBODY investigated me. At times, I was LITERALLY SURROUNDED by BEARER BONDS!

By contrast, I had a friend that got a job with JPL. The FBI investigated HIM! I was one of his references, and they probably investigated ME for that! But the FBI agent DID ask a lot of questions from me. They didn't simply call and ask for a reference.

For each person caught electronically making money while leaving no trace, how many are not caught? How do you prove something fraudulent took place if it has been erased?

Well, one of the industries I worked in was the BANKING industry, and there were TWO thefts that my company was involved in. ONE involved CMOS(MORTGAGE based securities), and ONE involved BEARER BONDS! BOTH were eventually caught, but took MONTHS! The bearer bond theft(Theft of value from instruments that are generally NOT tracked), was something that was difficult! The bank was highly secure, there were guards, and everyone was in a bull pen with a managerr that was SUPPOSED to monitor things. The thief was the MANAGER! He ran the bonds through twice, and one payment went to the owner, and one to his orgaization.

And people sometimes laugh at MY tangents. At least MINE make sense or are related, like this one. THAT jerks tangents aren't even true. And showing that someone has constantly tried to steal something makes them a TOP suspect if there is a suspected shortage. To simply say no such shortage has been found is certainly not proof of innocence since most would consider the mere ATTEMPT a crime.

The thefts of banks is usually NOT politically biased, and I doubt ANYONE with half a brain would dispute that.

You should pay strict attention to your bank statement and reconcile your account each month.

If money is disappearing your totals won't match the bank's and you report it, they will research it. Guess what then their totals won't match either since there is no transaction to explain the debits.

They will refund the money and this will alert them that something suspicious is going on. Unlikely it would just be your account so as the complaints roll in they will take action.

I had one bank that lost a record of a check I deposited a month earlier. They just deducted it from my account, hoping I wouldn't notice. They pulled EVERY trick in the book to cheat me. I got a provisionary credit, and shut down the account.

A brokerage firm decided to delay settlement, and basically STEAL $1000! I told them I would report them to the SEC and the fed. Luckily, they backed down, and restored the $1000.

ANOTHER bank lost $10,000, and actually tried to charge me $10 to "research" the $10,000 LOSS! I got it back, and shut down the account.

Seems well-researched to me. All the quotes I saw were from outside sources, most of which were verifiable. That said, there is a slant and wording to the article which probably didn't help its case.

Yeah, I have seen a LOT of popular conspiracy theories that included UFOs from planetary federations that were "researched" and had quotes from outside sources.

Some had books, films, secret footage, special guests, including ex FBI and NASA officials, etc...

Yes, there are lots of conspiracy theories out there. It is up to each of us to make assessments based on facts or lack thereof. From what I see this is an actual legal case taking place, namely that "Rodney Reed Caverly, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is scheduled to plead guilty to a computer fraud charge next Tuesday in federal court in Charlotte.....charged last week with one count of computer fraud for allegedly writing a malicious program that ran on Bank of America's computers and ATMs, according to court filings."
Apart from such nefarious sources as BradBlog and ComputerWorld a quick Google search shows this story being published by several news sources:
Rodney Reed Caverly - Google Search

Might they be broadcasting misinformation and lies? It is possible since it has happened before. Or it might be true.

The Brad Blog has been a well reputed source of journalistic integrity for years.
Sorry if you don't like what he finds out. Brad blog doesn't "quote" a lot of Junk - Brad is a very skilled investigator and often goes to sources and conducts interviews himself. The stuff he does give links to and quotes are just in the way of conducting his own research for his own interviews. He's an INVESTIGATIVE journalists - unlike those we now see on MSM. He is not corporately controlled as those you now see in MSM.

If you can't get your head around his skill and qualifications, well - too freaking bad, go back to your TV with all their empty credentials and their corporate/political connections. AND does anyone here understand the term "corporate journalism" and all the implications therein?

The report was real and right on the mark - you can all sit here and drool over whether Brad is real or not and get NO real answers --- or go sift through the court dockets, which will TELL you that there either was a trial or one coming up.

Incidentally - the company that makes the easily hackable bank machines happens to be the same company that brings you the wonderful Diebolt voting machines that have been proven over and over again to be easily hackable in University tests.

I can't believe that people are so trusting of so many who have been caught lying over and over again - yet they will smear a very astute journalist just because he's not linked up with some corporately controlled MSM - who CAN'T report the same things or they lose their jobs. Good cripes - didn't anyone HERE take journalism in college? Didn't ANYONE here ever go for a job in MSM and find they can't report the truth because of owner's policies?

From what I see in this forum, there aren't all that many people here screaming about tin foil that have enough sharps about the subject to discern what is authoritative and what isn't. Go look at the dockets - find the trial, then say again that Brad is just quoting crap or is just a conspiracy theorist. Then go ask yourself why you automatically assume that someone is just a "conspiracy theorist" every time they say something really crooked is going on at the top somewhere. How many lies from corporate execs and politicians does it take until people start to see that there really are crooks there whether MSM reports them or not - and how many lies can get uncovered before you start checking facts yourself before screaming "tin-foil" at a very competent and well respected investigative journalist?

YOU re-read, Steve. I was referring to someone else's comment - but yours was rather on the fence, now that I look at it. So....

Yeah there's a lot of crap out there -- there's also a lot of people calling stuff crap without having clue one how to figure out if it is or not. To degrade Brad's site without knowing how to look up court dockets first (NO NOT YOU) was not an indication that the person screaming tin foil has enough intelligence about research to make decisions about what is bogus and what is real for us to bother to listen to. That's why tin foil screamers are so damned frustrating to me. They never get into anything deep enough to know what they are saying -- all it takes is a trigger word and they open their mouths and scream "tin-foil" (aka = conspiracy theory). It's like listening to a blasted air raid siren drill for crap sakes.

For the record -- there ARE conspiracies. Some stuff that was once considered paranoid thought are now well known conspiracies that were dismantled because someone had the courage to tell the truth.

We see scammers all the time online - we see scammers that hook up with other scammers and plan scams to take people's money -- but if you say that a bunch of really rich people would get together and plan something that will make them incredible amounts of money and reap them much power - it's always just a "conspiracy theory" to some people - always. Get real. A. Lincoln made the most true statement I have ever heard in my life........."....you can fool some of the people all of the time.....".

I'm still busy thinking about how I was accused rampantly of wearing a tin foil hat for decades just for making a plain and true simple statement that the FED isn't part of Gov, it's a bank. That one stupid truth took how many decades to surface? And it took so long because instead of listening and researching people were busy with their air raid siren reactions screaming about "tin-foil" instead of looking in to it. How did I know? Because I heard it and did the leg work to find out for sure instead of my mouth flying open and letting out a siren alert.

The tin-foil hat screamers have two questions they ask continually that have no basis in logic or reality -
"If it's such a secret how do THEY know?" -- Um...because people who were doing some behind the scenes checking found out - and that is what they are talking about now so quit the siren and do some research of your own.
"Well, why doesn't anyone know about this then?" Crapping DUH...because there was an attempt to cover it up that leaked and the information is now there for you to KNOW about it....but you're too busy letting out that darned siren to figure it out.
(and Steve, my use of you is general as in "people" not as in YOU).

Yes there is some whacko crap around - alien lizards from space - if it's true I have to munch on those words but I would call that idea paranoid thinking. On the other hand, though, there are people who can actually see things going wrong and are investigating because our news centers are now under corporate control and we have to learn to find the criminals out in other ways. Sometimes it's very hard to do, sometimes it's a matter as in this thread - as easy as going over court dockets.

If you want some really good reading of the "conspiracy theory" king - go find wiki leaks, then try to figure out why there was such a massive attempt to get them offline. Or post something you find there for entertainment to listen to all the tin foil sirens going off.
      ROTFLMAO.

    Sal,

My statement was more how you felt about the owner of that blog, Yeah, your tinfoil hat harked back to michales statement.

As for conspiracies, I was speaking about the claim that "well researched and outside source" could so easily determine veracity. Everyone here knows I believe in SOME conspiracies. And many of those YOU seem to believe in also.

I don't know where I sat on area 51, but it didn't take long for anyone to EASILY see it was a conspiracy. I still LOVE how montel williams claimed it wasn't, went there to DISPROVE it, and ended up PROVING it. Of course, I long knew it to be true by that point. The ONLY question is how deep the conspiracy goes. I doubt there are secret UFOs there, etc... In fact, the claims seem to be too childish. I know one guy that was in the center of part of that. HE was a publisher, had some people mocking up supposedly alien devices(they WEREN'T alien), his wife was supposedly psychic(she WASN'T), and supposedly they knew an ex astronaut that spoke of beings from outer space that he met.

BTW guys, the FED IS basically a bank. It READS like a scifi novel, but it is TRUE. I can even tell you where this MONSTER and BAIN of the world was born. THAT sounds like I made it up, so HERE it is: Jekyll Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And a little more than half way down the page:

Planning of the Federal Reserve System

At the end of November 1910, Senator Nelson W. Aldrich and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Department A.P. Andrews, along with many of the country's leading financiers, who together represented about one-fourth of the world's wealth[citation needed], arrived at the Jekyll Island Club to discuss monetary policy and the banking system, an event which some say was the impetus for the creation of the Federal Reserve.

Forbes magazine founder Bertie Charles Forbes wrote several years later:

Picture a party of the nation's greatest bankers stealing out of New York on a private railroad car under cover of darkness, stealthily riding hundred of miles South, embarking on a mysterious launch, sneaking onto an island deserted by all but a few servants, living there a full week under such rigid secrecy that the names of not one of them was once mentioned, lest the servants learn the identity and disclose to the world this strangest, most secret expedition in the history of American finance. I am not romancing; I am giving to the world, for the first time, the real story of how the famous Aldrich currency report, the foundation of our new currency system, was written... The utmost secrecy was enjoined upon all. The public must not glean a hint of what was to be done. Senator Aldrich notified each one to go quietly into a private car of which the railroad had received orders to draw up on an unfrequented platform. Off the party set. New York's ubiquitous reporters had been foiled... Nelson (Aldrich) had confided to Henry, Frank, Paul and Piatt that he was to keep them locked up at Jekyll Island, out of the rest of the world, until they had evolved and compiled a scientific currency system for the United States, the real birth of the present Federal Reserve System, the plan done on Jekyll Island in the conference with Paul, Frank and Henry... Warburg is the link that binds the Aldrich system and the present system together. He more than any one man has made the system possible as a working reality.[9]
We now have a currency with NO intrinsic value. NOTHING is really backing it. It is controlled ALMOST like polands currency used to be controlled, etc... It is little more than monopoly money.

When you see how many conspiracies ARE around us, it is ASTOUNDING! It is like NEO at the end of the matrix. The people end up being just bits of light. It is sad that light can be so destructive though. A laser is nothing more than concentrated light.

WOW, I just realized something! This NOVEMBER is the 100th birthday of that monster. MAYBE we can slay it, because I know many are trying to give it a nice birthday present. I would LOVE to give it a gift! OR, to use the common vernacular today, I would love to give it gift. Elsewhere I spoke of words in other languages. Does anyone here know what GIFT means in German?!?!?!?!?

It means POISON! I would LOVE to poison that monster on its birthday!

Lot of people working to bring that one down, Steve. I don't think there are many people left now who don't know it's just a bank. And it is world, too - I looked at some of what they were "funding" last year. They seem to own most of the planet now. All we need to get rid of most global debt is to knock out the slave owner - World Bank. I don't think there's a country left that doesn't have some form of citizen/land collateral behind debt to those guys. It's slightly more than terrifying.

But all in all, they were able to keep that whole thing secret for over half a decade other than a few leaks here and there - my econ professor hinted very strongly to it, but never did just come out and say so and I'm thinking his job depended on not saying so. At that level of academia you either bow to the status quo or they will ruin you for life.

Even the "tin foil hat screamers" are nothing but the kids they were able to slip program in the public school system. That's a very artistic and effective means of programming someone at the instinctual level and why they will scream if you hit the right keywords or targets - no matter what the proof is.

As far as the Brad Blog - what I said remains. He is one sharp cookie and I admire him immensely. In my opinion he's the best investigative journalist since Woodward.

As an example check out what he says about ACORN. Now there are a lot of people reporting that ACORN somehow got votes through that weren't real - but he checked it out. There are many ways they could have done so and done so without being discovered.........but he has been unable to find PROOF that they did so- and though it stuck in his throat to have to say so, he says there is no proof against them. That takes some integrity to report something you hate as a fact just because it's the truth as far as you know.

So what I said about Brad -- is my honest opinion. Nothing more and nothing less.

Some people say he is a kook, but I don't even have to use his name. Love him or hate him, he has some interesting things to say. ONE thing is that Nuclear weapons have LIMITED war. Any attempt to use anything CLOSE to them full bore could mean a quick eradication of the offending nation. AND, even the US isn't excluded from such a strike. We KNOW it! EVEN any attempt to intercept a missile is foolhardy. When Japan was hit, they eventually decided to blow it up in the air. There was more fallout and a bigger coverage.

Well, one thing people don't often think of, and often view as COINCIDENCE or providence when they do, is that all these nations are tied together as they are. IF we had TANGIBLE value, we would have what we have. The value would be determined by US!!!!!! One of his stated things, theories if you will and, according to him, he heard was INTENTIONAL, is that this was PLANNED! What we have has NO tangible value! The value is determined by anyone BUT us! I mean FIGURE IT OUT! If we had the OLD currency, about $300 10 years ago would be worth about 1200 today. Well, we have the NEW currency which means $1200 today is worth what $300 would have been worth 10 years ago. AND, as big mike said, even the GREEKS made one LITTLE change, and our dollar is worth less because of it.

People worry about China denying us credit and/or not buying our debt and/or selling our debt. THAT would hurt us, which would devalue our currency, which would devalue the instruments and our debt, which would hurt THEIR assets and hurt them. If you own more than a certain percentage of stock in a public company, the law DEMANDS that you report it, and be subject to limitations. If not, you could cause wipsaws in the stock.

ALL THAT made possible by the nature of our currency based on arbitrage and fiat, as opposed to tangible assets.

NOW, was that just STUPIDITY!?!?!? Was it GREED by a bunch of moronic bankers? Or was it, as some now say, a diabolical plan by a bunch of kooks to try to keep the planet "peaceful" by ensuring that the destruction of one country can lead to the financial ruin of all the others? Based on occams razor, they may all be just as reasonable. We have seen how ALL can apply. Frankly, I hate them all exactly as much.

I didn't want to even MENTION acorn, since it gets too political, but it is FACT they were up to no good, and FACT that many were PAID to, and DID, get FAKE signatures. As for proof that they haven't been used, various laws and restrictions make that near impossible. HEY, if a guy breaks into your place, and you are missing $100, don't you suspect that guy might have stolen $100? WOULDN'T that guy get arrested for breaking and entering and suspected theft?

Some people think anyone who has anything to say that doesn't fit their view behind their rose colored glasses are kooks. Propaganda sells, Steve. Period. The crooks at the top didn't get there by being crooks - they got there by being excellent at slinging propaganda.

  • This is a very disturbing news. That any one account can be hacked and have all your savings taken from you.

That's a real easy one, too, Steve - people need to stop using credit cards. Period. But it will never happen because people don't seem very prone to act for their own good. They have also been programmed well over the years to be completely indiscriminate consumers.

My sister teaches and sees kids running around in $200 tennis shoes with Ipods in their hands but they don't have 2 stinking bucks for a lunch. We watched a report on TV about all the starving Americans - but these families have cable, cell phones, etc. Where the hell did common sense go for cripe sakes?

Every car I ever owned I paid cash for. In the long run that saved me thousands. I've never owned a credit card - and will never have one. I don't feel any will whatsoever to put myself into a situation to be financially stupid or financially abused -- or in the case of the GOOD old US Fiat money, financially pwnd.

What do you think would happen if everyone in the US cut up their credit cards? What would happen if everyone cashed their paychecks instead of using cards and banks to store and pay?

The sure way to break a bad or illegal system is NOT use it in any way shape or form not completely necessary, like cashing that paycheck. But with the brainwashing that has gone on about how easy it is to get stuff you WANT if you have plastic you will never see it happen unless people can wake up to the fact that they have been reduced to the status of livestock by the elite and all they exist for is to feed the rich.

I actually know someone who does this. I think it's wrong and if my money went missing I know who I'd turn to.
