Hello:

The death of an Australian scientist, Rodney Marks, at a U.S. base in Antartica in 2000 was first attributed to natural causes but, when his remains were evacuated to Christchurch in New Zealand, an autopsy confirmed that he had, in fact, been poisoned.

An inquest held in New Zealand in 2006 revealed that the U.S. National Science Foundation, which operates the base, and Raytheon, which also has a presence there, had stonewalled the Kiwi investigation team and that no further progess on the case had been made.

This is the last I heard about it.

Is anyone familiar with this case?

If so, has there been any progress?

Tommy.

P.S. - Just in case you're wondering, I was many thousands of miles from Antartica in 2000!

I always thought that people going to work there or in the Arctic for
long periods of time underwent some degree of psych evaluation.
Why the presence of a prime US Defence contractor there anyway???

Same reason they are everywhere else around the globe, Mike. The "they" part of "we" thinks they own the world.....hell, by this time they might be right.

LOL Sal, after recent events "they" will be very lucky to own anything
that anyone outside the US actually wants.

Seems like few will be willing to play with Wall Street again ... even
people like Paulson as in Peston's latest blog entry today
