is it Age or Laziness?

Lately I find myself procrastinating over doing simple tasks. If I can get out of them I do, especially on the net. After some 15 or more years on the web maybe I have reached a type of burn out.

Once I would dive in with relish and get the hang of how things work but lately if something looks complicated I give it a miss. This even happens with TV shows that look difficult to fathom.

Would love to know what others think? Is this age related or just plain laziness on my part? Maybe its boredom.

Sounds like ennui. Curing this requires injecting something radically different into your life. A stimulating jolt. If you live near an airport sign up for an introductory flying lesson. It's not expensive and will revitalize your mind.

There are lots of ways to stimulate the mind and body. White water rafting, taking a trip on motorcycles, joining a sports team, learning Tai Chi or Aikido.

Doing something wildly different from the normal routine is a very healthy way to keep mentally fit. Test it for yourself. It works.

That's great advice friend if I were about twenty years younger I might consider them. But being an aged grandmother with children and grandchildren who treat you like a has-been or a non entity does not help.

Lately my activities are confined mostly to my computer and I think therein lies the problem

I think it´s laziness, you should find a way to give vitality to yourself, Zen meditation helps a lot to keep your mind focused and busy, or meditation itself forces you to have a close encounter within yourself, nature, mind, body and spirit. Give it a shot. It will help you improve your lifestyle.

Sounds like a party. A pity party I mean.
Come on Norma, None of the activities Lawrh suggested require you to be at the top of your game.
I'm an aged grandfather with children and grandchildren (3 here and another on the way) who was diagnosed with kidney failure a couple years back. Admittedly I was depressed at first, but I decided it wasn't going to dictate how the rest of my life went.
Just the other night my wife was talking about getting season passes to the local Busch Gardens because for years I have ridden every coaster with my daughters. I told her I thought my coaster riding days were over.
She looked at me and said " I don't think your kidney disease will be affected by a roller coaster." And she is right.
I hope in a few years to be initiating my granddaughters on the fine points of coaster riding.
Of course the whole point of this post is, its a cliche, but its true, you're never too old.DO what Lawrh said and go do something new and different.

You are probably right Kim but it could just be a bit of depression with me as well. Next door neighbor is giving me hell for some reason and I feel like I am fighting a loosing battle. Its confining me to the house a lot because every time I go out she does something to hurt me. Latest activity was trying to rip my front gate off to prevent me locking it.

I try to get above these things by getting on a different plain and I think I may have just been burying the worry inside me. Well I will try and overcome it. But I love talking in this forum although I haven't been around for a while.

I've been having the same dilemma. I think it has to do with boredom thus, you get lazy doing the same things everyday.

    Hi,

I'd say it's lack of excitement - so yeah boredom. When things are new and interesting we get excited. It's also possible that your goals maybe taking so long you are becoming dissillusioned which again could lead to a lack of excitement regarding your current projects.

Why not look at what you are doing now, ask yourself if this is really what you want to be doing with your life and see if you can change something to add some excitement.

Life is actually cheaper than most people think but people get hung up on making the first million when really perhaps just $200 a day of automatic income might be all you need.

    Cheers

    Max

  • I guess it's boredom, you can change things or routine from time to time. We are meant to live a happy life and it's absolutely up to us how to handle it or be creative and enjoy the works of our hands.

I really don't think it is age.. It is most likely because you need a new "get-away" type of hobby or activity that way you can get your mind of off the daily stuff and kind of drift off and get back to reality after a while.
