Bluetooth devices used to be notorious for having different drivers,
although I believe things have become easier of late.

I had a bluetooth Access Point which acts pretty much the same
as a slow WIFI router ...and plugged into a USB port on my desktop.
The actual range is usually limited by your phone's bluetooth range.
The powerful USB adapters can have up to 100 metres range and I
could communicate with my PC/Access Point via bluetooth with a
lapttop at the end of our garden. WIFI is better and more secure
for that purpose.

My (Belkin) AP could connect/pair with a fair number of other devices.

Other than that, track down the manufacturers/suppliers sites and
dig for the info on BT dongles and devices.

I managed to get it working but the quality is poor. It seems quality is down to drivers and I am using some generic ones.

I think I might have to fork over another £100 for a plantronics setup.
