I really need your advice...

 I'm trying to help someone that I know. She's a kindergarten teacher for an elementary school, and she just loves working with kids. I live in a rather small town of about 60K residents.

As the school year is coming to an end, she is met with a challenge. She needs about 20 students to sign up for the 2010-2011 school year. If she doesn't meet that number, she'll have to teach high school, and maybe even move into the rougher part of town.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can help? Is there a way that I could get an article on the front page of the local newspaper? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I think the deadline to be met is before school starts up again.

Thanks.

I don't see how you can find 20 students in a district as those who are there would already be signed up for either the public school or private school, wouldn't they?

I feel sorry for teachers right now as a lot of them in many states are being laid off. At least it sounds like she has a job even if she needs to teach a different age group of students.

    some ideas -

    - do something different ... create a teaching plan which none other schools offer. Talk to parents and find out what they are unhappy about the schools and then offer those facilities in the school.
    - organize a free seminar and show what you have to offer. Create a plan on re-inventing the way kids are taught in the school. I am sure that there is a lot of improvement to be done in the education field.

This reminds me of a nice documentary i saw on archive.org "why these kids love their school" Why Do These Kids Love School? : Dorothy Fadiman with KTEH-TV (PBS) : Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

this could be her unique proposition : "your kids will love their school"

Also get some good books from Amazon which tell about specific techniques and ideas for better education and make it your USP for the parents..

make education a learning experience and with practical stuff.. I am sure she can get lots of new students for the next class...

If you need more ideas PM me as i might not check this thread again...

Can't you try in another Kindergarten school which don't has this deadline or requirement, so that you can work with kids.
