What is your honest opinion about tattoos? Many people say to each its own, but a lot of people are not taking into consideration that these "works of art" are permanent. The stars are getting them, your best friends got 'em, so why not you too? Unlike the average "fad" recovery from this one isn't as easy. So, tell me, what do you think?

I kinda like tattoo´s when they are professional made, express stories of their owners live, and don´t have to much colors, etc.

But really a lot of people get themselves a tattoo just because it´s "hot" or "in" or as you mentioned because their friends did so,too!

Since I am pretty much covered (no hands, face, neck or feet tho) I would have to say I am for them

I have been getting tattooed for well over 20 years now and have never really felt any negative impact on my life because of them

Aussie_Al, you are not considered in the "faddish" class because of the longevity associated with your tattoos. If you don't mind me asking, what is your profession? Btw, I just clicked on ultimatetatookits.com, am I correct to assume a tattoo artist?

How about once you get one you become addicted and get another, then another, etc
Last count I'm at around 18 and my youngest daughter has 3 or 4 and no tramp stamp

    I'm Jewish.

    We don't get tattoos.

    The rest of the world?

Well, I appreciate art, and many tattoo artists are more than worthy of the second word in their title. I don't care whether the picture's on canvas or skin.

I got my first tattoo before everyone seemed to be getting them (I think it was late 1993, so over 16 years ago). At the time everyone was like: "Wow, you've got a tattoo!" Because I guess I didn't seem like the "type" I guess (you know, private school girl haha). But now they are becoming sooo common, it's almost annoying

They are very common now, seen as a cool or alternative thing to do. Too permanent for my liking, and if I started with one, I would probably be wanting new ones all the time! Some people really suit them, I don't think I am one of them, but good on them for those that do!!

I have seen some that are true works of art and others that are just indescribable. I prefer the ones that are multicolored but I think it depends on who is has them. Not for me personally.

I don't like it. Some male tattoos on arms, shoulders and back are looking dirty.

Each of my tattoos tells a personal story of where I was at that point in my life. I love them.

I'm hoping that the adage "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" holds true: I can't wait to open my laser tattoo removal centre in 10-15 years and cash in on people realizing how ridiculous they look walking around looking like a moving Rorschach test.

I think it is all about a person's taste, I would definitely get a tattoo from LA Ink for example.

I love tattoos and I am planning to have one with a cross design on my back with my kids name and wife. It is an art, done by professional individuals.

Well, i wouldn't classify tattoos as a fad, considering they've grown more popular and never had a decline.

a fad is crocs, them big furry boots girls wear that make them look like eskimos, and the huge alien bug eyed glasses they also wear.

The point im trying to drive home is.... Tattoos being permanent shouldn't influence how you view them because, quite frankly. people who follow stupid fads are just going to switch to another stupid fad. so them stupid fads are just as permanent?

That's a lot harder putting into words than i thought.
