What was your very first car?

My was a 67 Olds Cutlass with a 69 Olds 442 engine. Problem was, I only had it for a week. A friend sold it to me and before I could pay him, he borrowed the car and wrapped it around a telephone pole. Since I hadn't paid him yet and he wrecked it, things "evened" out. (He totalled the car but wasn't hurt)

My next car was the biggest lemon ever...a 71 Comet, Mercury's version of the Ford Maverick, a small step "up" from the Pinto.

I still hate that car. I went from cool to uncool very quickly...

What was your very first car?

This looks a lot like mine...Except mine was a deep royal blue with the same balck vinyl roof...It was the only really cool car I ever owned, even if only for a week.

    68 Chevy Impala.

It was time for me to learn to drive so I asked one of my Uncles to find me a car for $50 and he did.

It was dingy yellow with a ripped black vinyl top.

I had to get a new muffler.

First car I drove was a 53. My Grandfather was going to give it to me when he quit driving, ended up having a minor accident and he gave it to my cousin who sold cars
At the same time my father have a 52 Plymouth he was thinking of giving me when he got a new car. That one ended up rusting out so bad you couldn't drive it. Almost 200,000 miles on it by then and it still ran and drove perfect.
Ended up with a 68 or 69 Beetle for my first road car.

1981 AMC Concorde wagon. Thing was a tank. Ran it into a concrete wall at 50 mph... lost about an inch of trim around the headlight.

Drove it off the side of a mountain a couple years later. The car didn't make it through that experience... but thanks to its sturdy construction, I did.

My dad was a fan of British cars. Vauxhall, Woseley, Austin, Austin Healy, Morgan, MG, MGB-GT. He also had two Volvo P1800 sports cars.

Trucks, on the other hand, were all American. Ford and Dodge mostly.

No Ford Galaxy in my past. Though technically there is. My '70 Ford Custom was also released under the Galaxy moniker.

LOL... My first car was a 1962 Chevy II Nova Super Sport and it sported a
    302, manual trans with 4, 2 barrow duce's and a master cut-off control valve.

I could run it on 4, 6 or 8 cylinders.

My father won it in a bet the day I turned 16yrs old. The guy bet him title for
title at Ohio Valley Speed Way and lost the race.

I had the car a week and then took a trip to Florida with a few friends. When
I returned from the trip, my father had removed the 302 motor and replaced
it with a 196 automatic. When I pulled out on the highway I had to wait for
bike riders to go by before I could pull out in fear they might hit me!

I then upgraded to a 1961 Ford Falcon which I then sold for $100 only to
learn that if I had just turned the distributer a 1/2 inch would burn rubber
in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. The guy I sold it to adjusted it and then did
it after he left my driveway. (He's still on my Sh!t list)

    My third car...oh, never mind.

    Have a Great Day!

My first car I purchased with my own money was a 1974 dodge dart.

The worst car I ever owned was a POS Hyundai - actually it was my wife's. When we got married she got my brand new Chevy S10 and I got her Hyundai.

6 months later it started making some odd noises and shimmy while I drove. I was on my way to the shop when I pressed the brakes, heard a VERY loud grinding noise, and the brakes failed. Then I heard a sound like a snap. A few seconds later I saw a car tire pass me on the passenger side - my first thought was WFT - where did that come from? A second later I found out when the back of my car slammed into the pavement because the wheel had sheared off the bearings and broke lose.

my mother had a nearly cherry 53 Buick when I started to drive at like 15-1/2.

my father had a 57 pink and black leather cadillac convertible (with wolf whistle) el dorado

for the longest time i told people i had driven a cadillac at 5 years old -

i was much older when I realized I was sitting on daddy's lap steering and that he was in control of the gas and brakes.

so i had to relearn driving when i had this epiphany. lol.

my teenage fiance' had a 57 baby blue T-Bird hard top convertible and a model A or T Ford.

the first car i bought was probably an oldsmobile - used
but i dreamed of Morgans and MGs.

*Edit just remembered I bought a Toyota Celica that was a complete gutless lemon and I only had it a short time. It was pretty silver though...

i also had to buy a chevrolet sprint - my uncle bought it for me and i had to assume payments. it was an ugly little econobox but got 45 mpg (3 cylinder Suzuki engine)
    maintenance free.

*Edit = Chevy Sprint was the prototype for the geo metro

then my mother gave me a nearly cherry oldsmobile royal broughm something or other

Then I bought a Pontiac Bonneville SSEI - used silver - with super charger
Then I bought another one -new - I have one of the last 2 years of the SSEI

I only owe $7000 more dollars on it and it might be my last car. I love it and if that is the way it is, that's all good and all leather, 2 satellites.

In a better world I sometimes wish I had one of those little Audi or Nissan Roadsters.
If I won the lotto the Cadillac Roadster - only $100k.

Mine was a very sexy 1982 Mazda GLC Hatchback. It was a relatives car that was parked unused in the hot Miami sun so they offered it to me as I went off to college.

So for a free car, I picked it up in Miami and drove it up to Minnesota. It only broke down once in Savannah, Ga. Ah those were the days. :-)

I drove that car until it died. Towards the end, it would only start if you popped the clutch. So I had to park it on hills. My college sweetheart would have to push the car since she couldn't drive a stick to pop the clutch so that looked good... The guy in the car with the girl pushing it.

I knew a girl that would do that was a keeper. This October will be our 15 year wedding anniversary. And she doesn't have to push our cars to start them anymore.

Boy, it was so long ago.

I believe it was a 1962 Beaumont, black, 8 cyl. Nothing special, except that it was all mine. Then there was a '72 Ventura, light greenish yellow. I limped it into the dealership when I bought my new car.

That'd be my absolute favorite - a brand new 1988 Mercury Topaz. My very first NEW car, picked and purchased by me alone. I was so proud. We developed a wonderful relationship. It took me to New York City, Pennsylvania and the St. Lawrence River area, as well as on many circle tours around Ontario and just across the border.

It was red, standard tansmission, two-door, 6 cyl. and very reliable. The clutch lasted the life of the vehicle, which was about 13 years and around 325,000 km.

I sure miss that trusty car, but it's time had come. The Ford dealer tells me the next closest replacement is the Ford Fusion, but it's more expensive than the Topaz (compared to other small cars today that are closer to the $12,000 I paid for it).

My first car was a 1983 isuzu impulse. I bought it new. They told me IT had a lotus tuned suspension. for its day and price range, it was pretty loaded. Isuzu Piazza - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It was a cute little car, and I got a lot of compliments on it, etc.. Unfortunately, the seats could have been better built, and I think it blew a head gasket, so I pushed it to 13 years, and that was it.

I'll NEVER forget! I sold it as JUNK! I EVEN got a SPECIAL registration for it! $5! The CATCH? It was to be JUNKED, and NOT driven on the road! I EVEN removed the battery because it was a new battery and they didn't pay me enough for it. Can you GUESS what happened NEXT?

A few days later a guy called asking me if I knew that it had a blown head gasket, he acted angry as if I had sold him a LEMON!! Well DUH! MOST junk cars have SOME major problem! I asked why! He was driving it and had problems! 8-) So I told him I THOUGHT it had a blown head gasket and that was one reason why I SOLD IT AS JUNK! It wasn't even legal to drive! I mean if he went to get a registration, the junk title would be a problem, and he would have noticed that it had a problem.

Mine actually was 2 cars that I had to combine to make a complete car.
They were 66 olds f85s one was a blue green color and the other was maroon. When I was finished putting the one together using parts of the other one I was driving a maroon 66 olds f85 with a bluish green front end , both fenders and hood..and I also had to take the power steering unit from the pieces car and put in the one I drove. What a pain but it was worth it , 2speed power glide transmission that I tried to tear up but couldn't.

Boy those were the good ole days;-)

Mine was a college car--- 1956 Chevy 4-door 3-speed six cylinder. Treated that thing like the jeep it wasn't!

Bounced over many rocks/beaches/log roads and mountain byways before I was able to trade up to a 1962 IH Scout.

Chevy tales include driving up to the snow one day (six college friends) without any type of sled---so naturally we pulled the hood off my car and slid on that all afternoon.

Don't know why but that hood never did close right after that!

Haha...mine was a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire..dark blue that I bought for $1300 and lasted for about 5-6 months tops. It was basically a lemon when I bought it but I didn't know any better. I test drove it first and everything seemed fine, sounded fine, looked fine. Didn't know it was a waste until I literally driving down the road and my brakes stopped working...talk about scary. They connected it to some diagnostics test and found the engine had over a 100 or so misfires....been down ever since.

    Then I graduated to a 95 beretta, and a 96 blazer - I made it far haven't I? lol :p

I got a Honda Civic a couple of years after they arrived on our shores and it as one of THE WORST cars I ever owned. I had to replace the engine, and then the hood support broke off. I got it welded but ever since then it was a real bear to close.
I always felt guilty about selling it even though I was honest to the buyers about the porblems I had had with it.

Mine was a 1978 yellow Trans Am. I got it from my dad for my 16th birthday. But Alas, he took it away from me for busting me drag racing it in the new subdivision being built across from ours three short weeks later.

He took the car, the cash I won for winning the race and the matching key chain. And if that isn't heart breaking enough...replaced it with a 1970 silver and "rust" pinto.

A mint green 1.6 Ford Capri, which my husband said he'd teach me to drive in. He gave me one lesson, went a curious shade of white, told me that I'd done OK but that the car just needed 'a bit of work doing on it' and then came home and removed the engine. Permanently.

Since then I've had a midnight blue 1.6 Ford Capri and another mint green 1.6 Ford Capri (spot an obsession emerging yet? ) but still haven't passed my test. My last driving instructor assured me that the incident in which I'd simultaneously written off his passenger side front wheel and dislocated his shoulder could have happened to anyone, and that he'd be in touch once the damage was mended. This must have been at least nine years ago, so I can only assume that he's very slow to heal...

Someone is proud of their first car with the pics. . . Mine was a '73 Chevy El Camino. The full sized car and bed, not the smaller late '70s models.

    1972 Monte Carlo Mint condition.

I was so stupid. I didnt like it back then and took it for granted because my friends cars were newer.... man if I could ever go back in time! Got it for $400 even, and it looked like it just rolled off the floor with about 20k miles on it.

I ended up likin the all the cylinders too much and wrapped it around a curve and totaled it.

Mine was a used 1974 Satellite Sebring, almost like this one. It was green with the half vinyl roof. Had it painted blue later on.

A puke yellow colored dodge Omni. It was the ugliest little car you can image. A total of $2,000 and wasn't even worth that. At the time, I didn't care, it was mine!!

I was in Germany when I got my first car. It was a little black volkswagon with a white roof and front engine hood and trunk hood. It looked like a little skunk.
