With the introduction of an SSL-encrypted version of its core search engine say goodbye to referral data.

Google still get the information and we don't so trying to work out what is and is not working is about to get harder.

Or is this an opportunity?

Unless G actively promotes it the average user will never know it exists. Paypal has a hard enough time getting people to make sure links to them start with https. When it comes to security, the typical user is, shall we say, numb.
