Paul Gray, founder of SlipKnot was found dead in his hotel room monday - tests are being run to find the cause of death.

Another band loses talent. I know heaven has a hell of a band, but can't these guys wait just a bit longer to get in?

LOL - Oleg, that explains the friend request. I saw you are new so came to search where you might have gotten the idea that you want to be my pal.

Do I like metal? LMAO -- I was at the last concert that Drowning Pool did the night before the first lead singer died. I've been a headbanger for around 35 years. And this forum has around 100,000 members so of course there are other metal heads in here.

I actually made a song with Steve Wagenheim - my lyrics, his music (not a professional set up but gets the idea across). Not quite as metal as I go - but a lot more metal than he goes.

While not a metal head per say, My musical tastes are so diverse that I've
gotten into many metal bands throughout the years.

I've posted some of my favorites in the rock and roll obscurity thread that
I started along with a lot of other stuff that I'm into.

My tastes range from Abba to Zappa and everything in between.

And Hey Sal even turned me onto some of the harder stuff over the course
      of this year.

LOL - yeah Steve - you didn't seem to think I was much of a bad influence, although your wife may disagree.

You rocked a LOT harder than I expected - but, tsk -- you still haven't either shaved your head or grown the mop out. What's with that?

Guys I have a site called Rockwaves.net which you are welcome to critique. It's going to become more of a "how to" site rather than news and reviews platform (although some of this might remain) but any comments from you rockers would be welcome as it really is static right now.

I have done some PR work with Glenn Hughes who is a close friend of Ronnie James Dio and of course we lost this lovely guy last week too. RIP Paul Gray.

That's surprising I did not know that there are metal heads on this forum.

Speaking of dying singers, Ronnie James Dio died on the 16th this month....
I like his music, I read on the Wikipedia that Dio popularized the horns thing that they do with their hands.

Never been a fan of metal, however there are quite a few individual metal songs I like and there are some cases when Punk Rock (which I love) and Metal are similar.

With that said, I hate it when ANY musician dies - they are gifted, usually too young to die, break everybody's heart that loves them, and leave a void which sometimes leads to the band's demise. Nobody can ever really replace anybody else.

    My condolences to his fans.

    RIP Paul Gray

I'm a metal fan to.. But I never really got into Slipknot. Still, it's sad to see one of the few moderately original modern bands out there lose a valued member.

I love metal as well (though I lean more towards melodic/symphonic metal). May Paul Gray and Ronnie Dio rest in peace.

That is interesting, Kurt. I heard that they named themselves after Zig-Zag rolling papers. Sounded right. LOL.

Interesting how an obituary thread turned to music in general. I thought about that a bit and wondered how Paul Gray would feel seeing this thread evolve from news of his death. I think he might just like this one in his own way........what better honor for a musician than to have his name, even in a note of his passing result in a joyful bout of chatter about his favorite genres of music?
