Black Rock Desert

Might be a bit late for info but we just decided to take off for three or four days to Nevada's Black Rock Desert-----probably around High Rock Canyon.

Thought maybe HeySal is around in the next twelve hours of so and give me a hint on rocks in that area. Haven't been there for almost thirty years but seem to remember Opals as well as Obsidian---coupled with lots of Quartz and an occasional rattle rock.

Hints??

thanks

  • I have never been there but don't forget to look for gold!
  • Agates, fossils, geodes, thundereggs, jasper, opal, petrified wood, obsidian,
and possibly some sunstones about 30 miles north of the main obsidian area, but not confirmed.
  • I'm guessing....black rocks?

    • What is a quick difference between these---I have always called them rattle rocks and thought essentially the same?

Yea---if those were south down by area 51 those might just be incubated to produce black helicopters for all the conspiracy theorists!
  • Geode is hollow and crystal lined - thunderegg is filled with agate and/or jasper.

I figured that area 51 would be hiding moon rocks.
