Even though this may be the epitome of lazyness, it is just so cool I want one...

YouTube - U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype

Being a car racing fan I can't wait for these things to start getting souped up and create a whole new class of racing...

I'll wait til you don't have to scuff the toe of your shoes!

Why can't you have your feet placed horizontally?

Anyway guys, let me know when the race is and I'll be there! I'm a race fan myself!

D'OH! That was my first thought when I watched that video (after my brain stopped going GAGA ).

It does look like you could catch your toes on the cracks in the tiles and do a header toot sweet.

Well, that's too much. lol. Pretty cool, though. I wonder when they'll
use that wheel design on their cars for diagonal and lateral movement.
But that seems it would involve other kinds of redesign to the car. I
don't know, not a car head.

Also... remembering the recent thread about the woman who fell asleep
in the plane and is suing the airlines...

I can see a weight challenged person getting on one of those things and
exceeding the spec limits for operation, crashing, burning - and suing Honda.

Only a matter of time. But it is cool. You can do a lot with those things. Have
a U3-X Mobility Park - like skate ramps but guess they can't be too steep. U3-X
    jousting contests. lol Endless possibilities.

I thought of the Segway also when I saw this thing. Just like the Segway I don't see it catching on in a big way. Maybe for older and disabled people, but for the general population it just looks too nerdy like.

BTW, you can't make the Segway look cool no matter how much souping up someone does. Take a look at this guy. He put 6 huge wheels on a Segway and he still doesn't look cool at all. ( It might help if he doesn't wear his sweat pants pulled up like Forrest Gump also )

Well, I guess that could be cool - in a stairway and doorstep-free world

But the question I have to ask is "where's my Jet-Pack?"

It's now the future and they promised.

        I want one.

I can see this having a much broader appeal than the Segway. It is more discreet, therefore the Segway douchebag factor is reduced and it is portable over difficult surfaces. Just pick it up and carry it till you can use it. The girls in the vid seemed to have no problems with carrying it.

The downside is that you risk becoming like the humans in the movie WALL-E.

I'm already thinking about how to ride it like a skateboard. One foot on the peg, one under the folded seat, shove the top down hard enough and it should go like a mother. I'm betting I could jump it close to a foot.

That thing is impressive, but no way would I be seen in public on one. For things like wandering around art galleries looking at paintings, my feet are still preferable.

How is it powered? Is it an electric plug-in? How long will it go on a charge? It looks amazing being that small? I don't think a drinker better get on one.
