Stupid bug!

Ok - so I knew walking the dog just before dark wasn't bright - bugs are far too active at that time. But I did it.

And I thought I was lucky - just one bite on the inside of my wrist. Looked like a mosquito bite and itched so I put some bug bite stuff on it and forgot about it.

Started itching again just now (several hours later) - and the darned bump is about 2 inches across and sticking up almost half an inch. It's reddish and the skin all around it itches.

If I ever find what bug bit me - I'm going to bite him back! Stupid bug.

  • Well Kay that doesn't sound like an ordinary bug. I think you better
bleed that thing asap. You know... lance it.

    Always glad to help!

    • Right - darned thing is still growing - now it's 2 inches wide and 3-4 inches long. Doesn't hurt - just itches like crazy.

And you think I should lance it? That is so not going to happen.

I'm going to take my book and go to bed. If I don't wake up dead of bug bite, I'll pull a Scarlett and worry about it tomorrow.

  • Hope it is nothing serious, Kay.

  • Ok Kay... scratch the lancing bit. Since it's getting worse, and you
probably won't read this until tomorrow... Still, I found this and it has
a number of things you can try.

Does anyone know how to reduce the swelling/redness of mosquito bites? i have so many and theyr huge ='[? - Yahoo! Answers

Lots of people responded, so you may find something that will help.

    • Kay - come in Kay - speak to us. Are you ok?

These tips are some good ones Ken -

Except please Kay do not use clear nail polish - most of the other things sound sane and logical.

The doctor told me I am allergic to bug saliva - yech. they have saliva  = quite a few of the people who posted on Ken's link mention this too. But what you describe sounds like something worse to be THAT big

I know they say fleas used to gang up on me because of Vitamin B deficiencies - but I guess I don't have them anymore because haven't been bitten by anybody in a long time. (they also mention B1 in the thread)

  • Don't scratch too much. Hope its nothing serious! Stupid bug indeed
  • Could be spider bite, Kay - wash it off with some hydrogen peroxide or alcohol and get some hydrocortisone cream on it. If that was a recluse, the only thing that will stop the spread is cortisone.

  • KAY, I believe NF spreads fairly fast, and it looks different, so you PROBABLY don't have that. It DOES sound like you have an infection, reaction, or parasite, and THOSE can be harmless, and disappear in minutes or a couple weeks, or be deadly and come back in a decade. I am usually not an alarmist, but I hope you will see a doctor. The GOOD news is that you probably have a longer period of time since MOST things that are REALLY bad and fast would have given you other symptoms or killed you by now.

  • Well i think you should go to a doctor once and get it checked.Maybe the bug was poisonous and it can harm you later.I hope every thing gets fine.
  • There are so many bugs in my home. My son has a rash from a bite from a bug. Do you have any pets in your home? Have you look for spiders in your home? Maybe you could look up info. on the web search for bug bites and rashes. It would be a good ideal to see your doctor if your rash is not better soon.
