Do you guys think ESPN is pushing the World Cup too hard? Being a soccer fan I love it, but I was wondering what others thought.

Personally I watch the games on Univision since the commentators are much more exciting (and I speak spanish so it works out). And obviously Univision is coverign the World Cup for the majority of the day.

I don't think so. As a non-soccer fan I didn't think it was over-done. I watch most of the sports stations to get scores, etc. and they gave it the same coverage as baseball or basketball.

Of course, here in the U.S. I am not surprised. The excitement for the sport is not like it is in other parts of the globe.

  • I don't mind whichever channel it's on. But the games so far are stinkin. Loads of draws. Maybe it's better to watch when it reached the finals.

I don't get ESPN but I watched for awhile on another channel. What was that terrible noise in the background? I don't know the professional game well enough to watch without the sound. I finally gave up and turned it off.

The Vuvuzelas, this Horn. It's been pretty controversial this year as most people agree with you that it's extremely annoying. They are trying to engineer a tech that would eliminate that noise w/o completely eliminating sounds from the stadium. The buzzing sound is really annoying, they are considering banning it, but that would be a smack in the face of the South Africans.

This is what you're supposed to hear in a big soccer game

listen from 1:37 to 1:48 for example.

Those vuvuzela horns stopped me from watching the World Cup. It sounds like a beehive on steroids or something... Spain vs. Switzerland was intolerable after 5 minutes!

  • Nope dude... the world cup happens every 4 years, and for the biggest sporting event of them all its certainly justified...

Nope its every 4 years and is the #1 BIGGEST sporting event ever...even bigger and much more fun to watch than the Olympics.

I'd say its the best thing that can be watched on TV
