Any Disney World fans here? What do you think about this...

Hey Warriors,

I've developed a simple, but dynamic guide for anyone planning a trip to Disney World. I promise, this is a TOTALLY unique idea!

How is it different than most guides?

Well, most guides that you buy at a bookstore have information that:
  • May be out of date
  • Is static (not dynamic)
  • Is the result of efforts from a single author
  • Limited at best
So, I got to thinking...what if I could create a guide that:
  • Always provides the freshest information
  • Gives users access to all sorts of dynamic media, including videos and interactive maps
  • Provides the absolute best answer in the world for virtually any question about a Disney World trip
  • Was virtually limitless on the amount of information and facts it could give on any topic related to a Disney World trip
Here's what I came up with (it's all on a single page):

Interactive Guide To Disney World

I would love to know what you think, or if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

Thank you!

Derek

NOTE TO MODERATOR: This post was deleted from the main forum, I have no idea why, but suspect because the moderator there didn't think it was an Internet Marketing-based topic?!? I thought asking for feedback on a product idea was acceptable (I've done it many times in the past), but this moderator apparently disagreed.

I'm resubmitting the post here, not to be obnoxious, but to get some honest feedback about this idea, and the rules for this forum seem to be a little more open to allow it.

    Derek,

I hate to say it. You must have given us the wrong URL.

Always provides the freshest information ?

    NOPE!

Gives users access to all sorts of dynamic media, including videos and interactive maps ?

MAYBE, but SO WHAT? You don't want media! You want media that YOU want, and/or appropriate.

Provides the absolute best answer in the world for virtually any question about a Disney World trip ?

It might be there SOMEWHERE, but info overload is all but worthless.

Was virtually limitless on the amount of information and facts it could give on any topic related to a Disney World trip ?

It might be there SOMEWHERE, but info overload is all but worthless.

I love Disney World! Going with my friends is always an enjoyable experience. I don't exactly like the company of Disney though. Their morals are pathetic.

    Hey Steve,

THAT's a whole bunch of honest feedback!

    Thank you!

I'm just testing the idea, and this helps me evaluate it.

    Here are my thoughts...

Aren't people already using Google to search for this kind of information?

Doesn't this make it easier for people to benefit from the power of Google to provide quality information about a topic, without the sweat of having to think about the right keywords?

Isn't the information found by Google typically fresher than the same information found in a printed book that may be a couple years old?

When people want to learn about the rides at Disney, wouldn't they prefer watching the ride experience that videos can provide over text a blurb about a ride found in a book?

If your issue is the number of links on the page, is the amount of links more than the number of topics that you might find in the table of contents of a typical Dummies book (have you seen one of those things)? Is that overload, too?

All this is, is a an interactive table of contents - instead of leading you to a section in a book, each item leads you to page on the Web that provides information about that item/topic with a variety of media.

Does that help put the idea in better context?

Would it be easier on the eyes if links to Images, Videos, etc. where removed?

Those are my counter-points. I'm ready for some additional feedback.

Well, even if it WERE perfect, MANY have the same idea as you and that ALONE would make it worth much less. I keep narrowing down searches to get data.

Doesn't this make it easier for people to benefit from the power of Google to provide quality information about a topic, without the sweat of having to think about the right keywords?
Google has speed and flexibility, but the idea of power seems more hype than anything else.

Isn't the information found by Google typically fresher than the same information found in a printed book that may be a couple years old?
Actually, some on the internet is ANCIENT and downright WORTHLESS. I would take an authoritative site over a book, but a good book over most sites ANY DAY!

When people want to learn about the rides at Disney, wouldn't they prefer watching the ride experience that videos can provide over text a blurb about a ride found in a book?
Actually, I would prefer to have BOTH. BUT, again, some listed rides might not even exist anymore.

If your issue is the number of links on the page, is the amount of links more than the number of topics that you might find in the table of contents of a typical Dummies book (have you seen one of those things)? Is that overload, too?
The better "dummy" books have good content. They don't go to a third party with a VAGUE index and try to glean some nugget.

All this is, is a an interactive table of contents - instead of leading you to a section in a book, each item leads you to page on the Web that provides information about that item/topic with a variety of media.
I don't even think you could can call it interactive really. I would expect something that asks you a list of questions to determine what you want, etc... Maybe something where you say your height, age, and weight, and it shows you the current rides and gives a little description. Or maybe one that allows you to describe the type of group, and it suggests rides, etc... Or even STORES and places to eat.

Here, I removed additional links to Images, Videos, Maps, and Shopping:

    Interactive Guide To Disney World

Does this make it less overload-y?

    Thanks!
