Those would be good questions for Obama. Unfortunately, he won't answer them and the press won't press him on it.

Here is a good article concerning this audio, complete with printed quotes from the radio interview:

Here's McCain in 2000 (back when he really was a Maverick), saying that rich folks should pay a little more...Pretty much the same thing Obama is saying.

C'mon Kurt. Even you have to admit that Obama's talk of reparations and spreading the wealth are a far cry more radical than anything McCain has ever proposed.

espacecadet, obviously you have never stuggled before.
Not everyone that isnt wealthy is lazy.
For the majority of Americans it is not about being lazy, certainly not in my case.
I took internet marketing when I was denied grants to continue my education after high school, I was told that even though my parents only made about $30,000 a year, that was still too much income to get any help from financial aide BUT they did not make enough money to qualify for student loans.
It has nothing to do with my willingness to get up and do something for myself. I made the effort and did all that I could do in this case.
Now I am into internet marketing just trying to scrape together enough cash to go to school part time for the next 8 years to get a degree, because lets face it...without that degree I am never going to get any job that will pay good money and allow me to have the family that I have always thought I would.
Maybe Obama's plan for redistribution is not the best way to go about it...but I support him for his willingness to say that I as a "middleclass low income" American needs help.
I am not saying pull a "robin hood" type of deal but I agree with his willingness to try and help those like myself who literally could not help themselves.!

I don't think espacecadet is trying to say that all poor people are poor cause they are lazy. And I personally wouldn't say that there aren't any poor people who really need help.

The question I have is a question of trust. When the government does have money from increased taxes, are they going to really help the poor who need it?

Did they really help the people with struggling mortgages with the bailout?

It's hard for me to see the country with already high tax rates where the average person gets far less than what people do in other countries with similar tax rates. (If you want an example of this consider prescription drug prices researching concepts like bulk discounts).

mbealmear, most of the money is in the hands of the wealthy, but taking that money from them and giving it to the poor will hurt you instead of help you. If that money is taken from them, going to school will not help you get a good job, because the wealthy will take their jobs to another country.

If you want the money to be redistributed then work hard save some money and get in a position to get some of the money out of their hands, that is the only way it can be done. If someone gives you a fish you can eat one day, but if someone teaches you how to fish you can eat forever.

So don't think that the little the Government can give you will feed you for more than a day. The food(money) they feed(give) you for free is being taken from someone else, when everyone has the same amount of food(money), who will be left to take it from.

What you are left with is a county use to taking hand outs, and nobody willing to work, so where will the food (money) come from then?

If they send their jobs out of the country, don't patronize them.

When they repeat the exact same position he is stating today (and then denying) I think that they are relevant, don't you?

The problem is not redistributing wealth, the problem again
is the US gov. they don't use our tax dollars wisely by reinvesting
it back into America to create more jobs and new innovations.

They instead put it in their pockets, or start wars, or invest
        it overseas.

I don't see why I should pay taxes, and I'm not going to anymore.

        They are all crooks.

        criminals...

American should stop paying taxes...Stop funding criminal activity
