Has anyone seen the CMT show Gator 911, where the guy in Beaumont Texas rescues alligators?

Even though I have seen and been around a lot of gators, I would not want to mess with any of them. I have seen too many videos of people getting their arms ripped off. One video was about a game warden that tried to catch a gator, his arm got wrapped up in the rope, and was snapped like a stick.

Video off youtube about a gator in a river - the gator had been eating on a dead turtle. This video does not contain any graphic scenes.

  • I was face to face with an huge alligator in 2003.

    Less than 3 inches separated our mugs.

  • I was face to face with a huge gator.

    I stared him down - eye to eye, for about 2 minutes and it actually backed off.

    Mr. gator was behind 3 inches of plexiglas.

    • Back when I was in my 20's my dream job was to hunt and relocate gators.
      Unfortunately back then gators where scarcer then they are now.
      Today that is still my dream job, but at my age and condition now it will just have to stay in my dreams
  • My sister's dog was grabbed by a gator last year and pulled into the retention pond behind her home. That's pretty much a death sentence for a small dog but somehow he escaped! All of the local news people came out and did news stories on it. The dog's name is Gizmo and one of the news stories was titled, "Gizmo versus the Gator". He's doing pretty good but still limps a bit once in a while.

    I visited Everglades Park a few years back and was absolutely amazed by the number of aligators. They were everywhere! I saw a beautiful bird on the opposite side of a small waterway and moved towards it to take a photo. All of a sudden I heard this "hissing" sound at my feet. There was an eight foot gator inches from my toes and he wasn't happy! The hissing noise he made sounded more like a snake than a gator. It was eerie!

    So I very slowly stepped backwards, careful to not take my eyes off him and we parted without incident.

    I've also "fished" for gators. I take a fishing pole and put a large bobber on the end (with no hook). The gators either ignore it or they go right for it. Once they grab the bobber they won't let go so you can actually pull them in like a fish. They do finally let go when they're about ten feet from the shore. Luckily, gators are more afraid of people than people are of gators (or at least I hope so). Anyway, it's a really stupid but hilarious thing to do. It's also probably illegal but that was decades ago so I'm sure that the statute of limitations is up. And I'm older and wiser so I'm not doing that any more.
