        Antimicrobial Soap, of course.

I have read too many studies where the good bacteria they kill negates the benefits of killing the bad bacteria.

Unless you're going to put the washed items in your mouth.

And that's a job for outsourcing if there ever was one.

My youngest son (going in to 2nd grade) has to bring antimicrobial hand wash to school. They have it in the lunchroom, rest room and even in the hallways.

We're creating a generation of germophobes...

All my childhood there was none of that stuff. Healthy as an ox the entire time. As far as I'm concerned the whole things is simply a marketing plan to sell more soap by tapping in to the parental "protect your children" center of the brain.

          Worked...

            Mike,

As a parent I would seriously consider the ramifications of letting my children use those soaps.

There was a reason we never had to worry about all that garbage when we were young and it was because we kept a natural balance of bacteria in our systems and our bodies learned to fight the good fight.

We were given or developed, depending on your slant, an immune system to take care of those nasty germs, and an absence of certian germs only leads to problems down the road when the body no longer develops a natural resistance.

You won't find any of that new fangled stuff in my house...

            Hey Mike...

I agree. I believe your body needs to be exposed to some things to build up a natural resistance. And by avoiding germs and bacteria entirely, we just weaken our own immune systems plus those of future generations.

I rarely (never) get sick and this has been a point of interest for me my whole life. It seems that people that don't get sick very often weren't real neat. We're not sloppy either, but we're far from being obsessive/compulsive cleaners.

Not a scientific study for sure, but just something that I've observed...

I WAS going to post a link to an article I read recently, but it is TOO crude! It starts out talking about the short story with a person going to bed and waking up as a ROACH!

Anyway, it was written by a guy that didn't bother following any masculine conventions, and he wrote this story to lead into it. One thing he does every night is put skin lotion ********ALL******** over him. The idea is to keep his skin smooth, etc.... One day, he wakes up and he feels like his ahem member is an old worn out baseball mit. His skin is rough and peeling. WHY!?!?!? Well, it turns out he used SOAP lotion, tried to rub it in, and let it do its stuff ALL NIGHT.

The story had some KIND of funny stuff, but it is SO crude that I don't even want to LINK to it.

BTW I use soap a LOT to clean. I guess if it makes people sterile I'm sterile. I mean I HAVE been using it for over 40 years, and probably used antibacterial stuff at least 5 years.

After following current "masculine conventions" with such vigor, the prostrate will soon shine through.

Who knows, carl? Maybe his prostate WAS prostrate! 8-) Bt masculine conventions I mean he seemed to have the attitude that ANYTHING he did was masculine because he was male, even if it was wearing lipstick and perfume, and having painted fingernails! But the idea that some guy would rub himself all over with skin lotion seems funny enough. To use soap instead is just funnier.

Well, i haven't read any article which says that washing gonads with soaps can damage them instead i thought that it is a healthy habit to keep them clean by washing with soap. I think that some harsh soaps can really do some damage to them.

Never use soap. There's a new product out specifically for washing

It really SHOULDN'T, but people seem INTENT on destroying the human race! HECK, they have all these patches, etc... Like nicotine patches. I heard that they use the SAME technique that was used in th 70s. Well, they got rid of DMSO everywhere. KNOW WHY? Because it can hurt the LIVER! But NOW they sell it on the internet, etc... at least. ONE
site says it is a natural product used for 100 years(BTW arsnic and uranium could say the same) and then said it is PERFECTLY SAFE IF handled properly:

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      SECTION III HEALTH HAZARD DATA
      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS:
EYES: Can cause irritation or reddening.
SKIN CONTACT: DMSO is rapidly absorbed through the skin or mucous membranes and may produce smarting, redness or contact dermatitis. It has also produced garlic like breath, headache, sedation, diarrhea, and disturbances in color vision in some individuals after dermal contact. It may accelerate the skin absorption of other materials including toxics.
INGESTION: Based on animal data, large oral dosages can produce bloody urine, kidney damage, or liver damage. The estimated mean lethal single dose in an adult human male exceeds 1 quart.
INHALATION: Headache, nausea, irritation, dizziness. Gross overexposures, (more than 50,000 ppm) have produced chemical pneumonia and death in experimental animals.
CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS: Repeated skin exposure can result in allergic sensitization and scaling dermatitis. Dimethyl sulfoxide may accelerate the absorption of toxic materials through the skin. These materials may exhibit chronic health effects.
