To go on a raw food diet? Explain that to me. Ohhhhhh it sounds soooooooooo miserable. And those recipes--so complicated. Most the ingrediants are impossible to find or you've never heard of it before and it can take hours to prepare a raw food meal  Why would people DO that?

Well it definitely takes some dedication to eat like that.

I'm sure people eating raw probably make alot up in advance or eat simpler meals.

I've followed about 4 or 5 different raw food eaters on youtube just to see what they eat on a regular basis and it's fairly simple most days:

Green drinks, whole fruits, whole veggies, and salads with occasional fancier meals. None make these complex meals all day long cause.

Edit: I just remembered that a guy on a blog I follow did the raw food thing for 30 days with pictures of almost every meal.

Don't think about it as a 'forever' thing. Do it for a week and reap huge rewards, then return to normal. Think of it as a vacation from toxins. A vacation where you 'clean house'. Do it once a year, twice a year, whatever.

Clean out your body. Clear your skin. Whiten your teeth and eyeballs. Rejuvenate your organs. Feel wonderful and full of energy. You really will love it if you make it a temporary thing you do once in a while.

But to answer your original question... yes... if you made it permanent... you would have to be nuts IMHO. Healthy... but nuts.

No, I love salad, I've been eating salad everyday cause I'm trying to lose weight. I mean eating RAW FOOD ONLY every meal, every day. And the "raw food diets" I've seen are all VEGAN, so tuna won't go over well with a vegan. I have seen some of the recipes, and it's a lot more complicated than just putting together a salad.

Here's a 20/20 segment on it. The guy says sometimes it takes days to prepare meals.

I sittin' here at 1:00 AM drinking coffee and eating Twinkies.
For serious, I got a food processor as a gift a couple of
years ago and have gotton almost addicted to making my own
V4 juice (with pepper and Texas Pete hot sauce) every day.
I go through tons of fresh vegetables and some amounts of fruit.

Additionally, I got rid of most of my bad habits. Never did drugs
in my life, don't drink, don't gamble, not married and the biggest
one (drum roll) In three more days I will have quit smoking for 18
months. (I'm so proud of myself).

I probably won't live to be 100 but who wants to anyway. I've
made it to 62 (today) and am very healthy. Don't worry, be happy.

You'd have to be nuts, bananas and crackers.

I've actually been pretty close to that diet at times but I have no idea
why raw foods would take extra time to prepare. Not in my experience.
No cooking, hardly any dishes to do or clean up after.

My favorite raw vegetable is kohlrabi. You can cook them but I never
have. Just pull it, peel it, cut it into slices and eat it. It is about the
size and shape of an apple (but doesn't have a core.) They are available
at the supermarkets now and are getting to be better known, but if you
haven't had one they are really worth trying. They are better raw than
tomatoes or carrots. Of course that will vary for different people.
