How many thought I was talking about some other subject?

Two real valid news reports that fit so well, I just COULDN'T resist. I'm not steve slater, and I spell my first name stephen, but how many HERE know that?

  • Who's Steve Slater?
If you spell your name stephen, why does it always show at the end of your posts as Steve???
  • Because Steph just doesn't work

    • This thread is so far Off-Topic it's actually on topic. Therefore, it shouldn't be here.
    • SHOOT, you said kind of said what I was going to!

STEVE is short for steven or stephen. Stephen Wozniak and Steven Jobs, of APPLE fame, BOTH use STEVE as the basic nickname. I say basic because I know wozniak ALSO goes by "WOZ". 8-)

And a LOT of people shorten names, like Bill for Billy or William, or Pete for Peter. HECK, Bob for Bobby or Robert!

But Yeah, steph is the accepted nickname for stephAnIE, which is a female name. It just DOESN'T work. 8-(

BTW MIKE is short for michael! Yeah, I know... Names can be ODD! HECK, HAL is short for Harold!

    • But he says he spells it s-t-e-p-h-e-n and yet it always comes out as s-t-e-v-e here on the forum.
Maybe his keyboard is acting up?

  • We get it, Steve. Really. Sal is short for Sally, too - but there's a dude in the main forum who is also Sal and I've received PMs that I was mistaken for him. Sal is used by a lot of guys when it's the first three letters of their full name. Salvador, etc.

So anyhow -- what exactly did you have in mind that you want us to have to admit?

    • Heck YEAH. My step mother's name is Gerri! It sounds TOO much like Jerry(as in Jerry Seinfeld...). And one of the leading actors on Father Dowlings mysteries Father Dowling Mysteries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is someone by the name of STEVE! And SHE is a NUN! I guess it HAD to happen. Hey, look at "michael learned"! Michael is ALSO supposed to be a male name. 8-( BTW I LOVE Father Dowlings mysteries, and the actors as well.

Well, I got a rep I feel was undeserved, so I was kind of poking fun at it. I was going to say "She is white", referring to the car that had the accident in the race, and mention that I had red and silver cars, and my first was blue, but that could get a bit too involved, etc... 8-/ In a way, the double entendre is in the title. But HEY, a lot of people here have done the same exact thing.

  • OK, I admit it. I am not bravo75, I am an Ecuadorian transvestite called Stephanie.
  • I know a man called Mary.

    He goes by Brian, though.

  • HECK, one poor guy was named MARION! HE went on to be a famous actor and even had a nice big airport named after him! The name he went by??????

Marion Morrison went by the public name of JOHN WAYNE! AND, if you fly any distance to, or from, orange county(one of the largest counties in california, and where Disneyland is), you probably landed at John Wayne Airport!

BTW his friends called him DUKE! John Wayne - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    • In a WAY, this whole thread is ON topic! I spoke of how I said one thing, and many may think I spoke about another, and we sstarted talking about how a name may imply the wrong sex, etc...

      FUNNY!
