Is Your Favorite Ice Cream Made With Monsanto's Artificial Hormones?

Monsanto has been in the news this week, with a U.S. District Court Judge ruling that the USDA has to at least go through the motions of regulating the company's genetically engineered sugar beets.

Monsanto, you may know, is not likely to win any contests for the most popular company.

In fact, it has been called the most hated corporation in the world, which is saying something, given the competition from the likes of BP, Halliburton and Goldman Sachs.

This has gotten me thinking about, of all things, ice cream, and of how Monsanto's clammy paws can be found in some of the most widely selling ice cream brands in the country.

These brands could break free from Monsanto's clutches. So far they haven't, but maybe this is about to change.

For the rest of the story go here...

I have never even heard of that company. Thanks for letting us know though. It's so sad to hear about what they put in food.

Granted I quote it a lot, but you DO have to be careful what you take from wikipedia. It grew so big so fast, etc... because they allowed the WORLD to update it. Today, SOME areas are blocked, but others aren't.

And IGF1 should be the LEAST of their worries. I would be more concerned about the GH and the estrogens. AND, they have found that girls are starting to grow breasts even as young as SEVEN! GRANTED, they TEND to be fat, but apparently that is STILL unusual. Things aren't supposed to be primed for that until 8 or 9, and they are supposed to actually start even LATER!

Yeah, they shouldn't allow antibiotics, hormones, or genetic manipulation. Isolation and protection can replace antibiotics, and be BETTER! Better treatment can help with hormones. And simple breeding can help genetically. They have done that for thousands of years, why not continue?

      Gotta love Ben & Jerry's
I also just found out that a local dairy company is now selling milk that comes from local farmers who raise cows that are raised like they where in the 50's.
In other words no growth or any other types of hormones.
Basically it's organic except in the 50's it was just called farming
Remember when you could get milk that had the cream on top?
That's what I'm talking about here, pasteurized but not homogenized.

Sorry to ruin your ice cream appetite entirely folks. Well actually milk in general. Lots of dairy cows have been found to have Leukemia -

    Leukemia in bovein fluids

... and aside from that I have done some research on estrogen and hormones and they are definitely related to cancer (in overdose according to my MD).

So your body makes some naturally and that is good. It is when you overdose by taking additional hormones into your body that it can escalate cancer cell growth -

... "growth" hormones, right - so the tumors, etc grow quickly - and in fact lots of times that is the clue to whether something is benign or cancer - rapid growth.

I am lucky I have not drank milk since I was a little kid (makes me really sick) - and it really isn't good for adults anyway - (another reason for all the heart disease in the US)

Now I will eat cheese but it has to be organic (soooo good) - well that is other than Parmesan/Asiago/Romano (couldn't live without it). Me moms always said 'have some pasta with your cheese, Pat'...

Meat, in the wild, is good for you. Meat out of a supermarket (read:factory farm) is strikingly dangerous. BTW - those anti-biotics aren't in the cows to keep them well, they're in there to make them fat.. Like that one? Understand, the chemicals lodge in the animals cells and you eat them. Can't loose weight - free tip folks. You'll have to buy the book to get more. LOL

Not only that but they actually throw stuff out of whack in the digestive system of the animal, too. Not to fear, there's plenty of that good gmo food for em...it really sticks to our...um...their ribs.

TL I know you expected to hear from me on this one:rolleyes:

Monsanto is the most frightening threat we have on the planet right now. Unfortunately, at a time that word is getting around and people are becoming angry, one of our senators is married to a higher up in that company. And they do a LOT of lobbying. They are also a threat to the planet. The people should be walking out of there - it's a job, yes, but what they are doing right now is so extremely dangerous that they should have officials in there forcing a shutdown. IF that place doesn't get shut down soon, they will have world dominance over food production....and their production is roundup ready. Where it's being used, superweeds are growing. They have proof now that GMO foods taint other crops - canola shows genetic proof it spreads, so Monsanto just lost their ability to sue farmers who aren't using their products if GMO shows up in their fields. They are seriously that low. Not long ago 1,500 farmers in India actually committed suicide Monsanto was on them so hard. I can't believe anyone would still be in their yards spraying round-up. I don't want that crap in MY environment. I know that people need jobs but I can't believe that people will work for a place that they know is monstrous. We can't get rid of it until people quit feeding it. When did people get so slave mentality? It's rough, but how far on your knees to you fall, just to allow it to become bigger?

Scary. I'm with Stephen Hawkings on this one, folks. (That's Stephen, not Steven) who says that human population is in exponential growth and we're running low on what we need for survival, and as we need to conserve and replenish, the population keeps growing and putting further demands on the planet.

He goes on to state that we've only got 100 years at the max to exist, and that's without nuclear war going on.

I don't care what anyone's arguments are -- I agree with him. If that outrages people, tough crap.

It sounds HEARTLESS! Some would say EVIL, but even in the 60s, I didn't want to have kids, feeling that things were getting just too bad, etc... Well, promiscuity has gotten worse, etc.... There are even people having competitions to have kids! And they are CHEATING with invitro, and "fertility drugs". So things have gotten BAD! HECK, I have a home in an area that used to have TONS of corn fields. I lived through junior high in an area that USED to have oranges, etc...

In short, areas that used to be open with LOTS of trees and plants providing OXYGEN and food are now crowded and dead. And we pay other countries for oil so we can ship food in, but it hurts the air.

And HECK, I thought my MOTHERS family was large. These days, it is TINY! She only had like 7 brothers.

And HECK, in my short life, the world has changed a LOT! As we treat more diseases, and the "fertility treatments" are more available, things will only get WORSE, as if a bigger base population wasn't ALREADY worse. So YEAH, I agree with you and Hawkings, though I think it will happen sooner.

We're one bil over carrying capacity, Steve. Give us another cold snap like last winter and we're gonna be in deep crap. Ever seen man made famine sink into natural famine? You might see it for the first time and it ain't gonna be pretty.

Yeah, I was trying to be generous. I'm sure you're right. Like I basically said, there are a LOT more people, and a LOT less food. I ALSO said that, ironically, it eats up oxygen because we have to import stuff we USED to have.
