How to get a refund

I subscribe to an auto responder services a year ago and it is suppose to expired on June 2010. Somehow I was late to submit my notice to cancel the service and the service provider charged directly to my credit card without my consent on mid of June 2010.

I contacted the company but they refuse a refund saying I need to give them at least two days in advance before the actual cancellation, failing which they are now charging me a whole 12 months' fees.

How should I go about getting my money back? any advice would be appreciated.

  • Did you purchase through Paypal. If so, there should be an option to cancel your subscription there, albeit it is to late. If you did go through Paypal, contact them. If you went directly through your credit card company, contact them. You should be able to do a charge back.

  • Actually when you signed up for the service you gave your consent to reoccurring billing weather you realize it or not.
    First try giving the advance notice and cancel your account.
    If you don't get a pro rated refund, do a charge back.

    • A charge back won't do any good if you consented to the recurring billing even if you simply forgot to cancel. However, telling the vendor you intend to file a charge back may get them to rethink their stance on the matter of issuing a refund.

  • I admit I do have fault on my part for late notice.

    I can accept if they said there is going to be a 2 months levy or fine or whatever to compensate for the late notice but a charge for the next 12 month??.
