I wouldn't. I'd just keep doing what I'm doing now...saving.

I was brought up rather frugal and love shopping at garage sales/flea markets/Free cycle/etc. Extra money gets locked away to grow.

A nice house for my mother. A nice house with a pool in a place with warm climate for me. Private teachers for anything I'm interested in (a lot) and free time to be there for a family I don't have yet.

For one thing, having a "lot of money" can buy something that isn't in a store & can't really be bought...peace of mind.

Struggling as I am currently, even a reasonable amount of money could make things less stressful for myself - so a lot of money would just allow me to make my dream come true faster.

To be able to purchase a nice piece of property, at least 5 acres. To have a couple double wides/modular homes put on that land. Have a large pond, stocked - have a nice garden and greenhouse too.

Have nice furnishings, things in the homes and a small barn/stable. A small carriage or wagon (I can't drive due to vision...but I figure the horse can see the way...lol) that I can take in to get supplies.

Room for some chickens, goats, some rabbits...a horse of course. And then find ways to get off the grid - water, wind & solar power. Grey water irrigation, hydroponics to filter water and a couple rainwater catch tanks too.

I'd like to be outside of town, but not too far out. I'd love to have a nice courtyard with a fountain. The second home would be for my older kids and then later for my younger ones. Maybe if there's closer to 10 acres, I could have more building sites available for those that want to come visit. I could even rent out one or two to artists or writers for a few weeks/months.

That is what I would do with a lot of money...but for now I'd just like to earn enough to not have to deal with disconnect notices & the threat of foreclosure on a regular basis. Plus we wouldn't have to budget our food to make sure there is enough to last all month...that is what I'd like to do now. Since I'm losing $355 when my daughter turns 19 next year - I've got to find some sort of realistic and steady income to replace it.

I just hope I can do it - I've been trying for a long time and I'm just not getting very far ahead.

It's funny. I usually get this question when someone is trying to sell an MLM scheme to me. However your question here got me to really thinking about what I'd do I had vast quantities of money. This is not an easy question to answer. I'll work by process of elimination by listing what I wouldn't do with it.

I WOULDN'T:
1. Buy thoroughbred racehorses, horse stables, and race tracks.
2. Purchase a fountain with spouting cherub sculptures to place in my front yard.
3. Pay to have a garish gothic mansion constructed with fancy rocks that have to be imported from another country.
4. Go on expensive and catered hunting expeditions to hunt down nearly extinct animals and shoot them dead in order to have stuffed animal heads to display on my walls.
5. Pay for ground up horns of rhinos and other endangered species.
6. Buy my own personal jet, eg: Inside the World’s Most Opulent Private Jets | Raw File
7. Go around to every expensive joint in town and try to make people feel intimidated by my wealth.
8. Purchase 5 star villas that I never use, but still require full-time staff for maintenance.

This might sound weird, but I think one thing I'd do is set up a trust fund for financially challenged people to get necessary dental work done (the best option, not the cheapest). It bothers me that people are losing their teeth because they can't afford to fix them.

What you should do, after buying that Canadian island, is publish a fake memoir about it written circa 1856, something like Anne of Green Gables, then advertise it in Japan. Firstly I would buy a puppy

I would buy a new car - probably a 4wd

I would buy three houses and rent them out, then when my children are old enough they can have one each.

I would buy myself a new house with a few acres of land, but still not too far away from where we are now.

I would give some money to a cancer charity, motor neurone disease charity and I would like to just go out and find some families that are really struggling and be able to help them out.

i'd pay off my debt to the man then get me a bunch of land with a moat around it with EMP's positioned on the corners just in case unc sam come a knockin.
With the remaining money I might fund some gorilla fighters somewhere that really do fight for freedom, or i might buy a doughnut shop and keep all the police officers in my state hooked on my dough.

i would also attempt to separate myself and become my own sovereign nation in and around the puget sound. everyone seems to pollute it so they won't mind if I lay claim to it. :rolleyes:
