I Need Advice for Getting A US Address

I am considering getting a US address.

I found " myus . com "

Is this a legitimate service?

So far, this is the cheapest option I found, for only $10.

Are there any hidden cost?

I think you need to be a US Citizen to buy a .US domain. Apart from that, I don't know.

Oh sorry... My bad. I misread the myus.com part. I thought he was buying a .com domain with the word "my" substituted for the keyword. Didn't know it was an actual site.

        Sumit.

OH NO, "my bad" is now in INDIA TOO? YIKES!

I recently heard a list of things british people didn't like about "american english". About 50% was junk like "my bad" that shouldn't even really be considered.

BTW sumit, terms are so misused here that your misunderstanding of what the OP meant was understandable. I decided to check the link, and it fit what the OP referred to. The price is even the startup cost for the basic package which is NO cost per month. All that gives you though is the ability to use them as a BOX drop, and they charge for shipping. To use them as a MAIL drop as well costs a lot more, and most of that is per month. They probably do it this way because they could easily make many dollars on shipping with virtually no added expense. For the mail, they would have to pack it up and it could get to be a burden with little income.

Probably not. I watch too much TV and pick up on words and phrases. Most of the shows aired here are American.

I rarely "speak" English. We use Hindi among friends. So my english is restricted to the classroom, or while I'm speaking to someone of authority (Principal, some cranky professor etc.), or two of my friends who aren't very comfortable with Hindi.

Occasionally, I use a phrase that people don't understand. Like once after I was done talking to this friend of mine on the phone, I said I'm gonna "hang up" the phone and he didn't know what it meant. Another time when I was talking to a professor, who taught English btw, I said something in American, and he didn't get it. I know I've used the phrase right, but I find it difficult to explain what it means most of the time.

Here you go Sumit, and it won't even "cost you an arm and a leg".

Based on VERY common mistakes I have seen Indians make, and what some have said about certain things, I can tell you the English teachers in India probably aren't the best. I BELIEVE "hang up" is ALSO used in britain. I may be wrong but, if I am, someone can correct me. Still, it shows they haven't had too much exposure to Americans in such cases anyway.

From what I can see, yjy may lock you into a set group of vendors, there is a shipping fee(SECONDARY to the other), and possibly a percentage. Outside of accepting packages, the $10 buys you NOTHING!

Can you please further explain especially the latter part? I can seem to understand what you're talking about.

To buy an address you could use for like MAIL requires the higher priced package. $35+$25/month.

I wouldn't blame the teachers. Our education system is counter productive. It's based on rote learning. Until fifth or sixth grade we had to know the answers of the prose (in our textbook) by heart for the exams! That's just crazy. We had to learn poems by heart. But the English teachers here sure are grammar crazy. They don't care if an eighth grader uses 3rd grader's vocabulary, but don't you dare miss an apostrophe s!
