The Best Predictions....

Ah yes, it took me a while to dig this up, but I remembered somebody making a wager here a while back.

I won't mention the Warrior by name (if you find who it is, please don't mention their name), but they can certainly step forward if they don't mind.

Anyway, the point isn't to make fun of anyone, but rather to say I wish I would have taken the wager. Especially since I would have made around $1,300.

Here's the quote...

I am quite sure that I have made a lot more money in the stock market this month alone than you did this whole year trying to sell your gold mining equipment.

So, let's do a little wager, since I'm a betting sort of guy. I'll put my money where my big mouth is. I'll bet you the DOW will hit 11,000 before July 4, 2010. Since you've got such a big mouth too, howse about a gentleman's wager of say $1,000USD or 1oz in gold equivalent, whichever is greater? Are you game?

P.S. If one oz of gold is more than you can afford to lose, what amount are you willing to give me when the DOW rises above 11,000 by July 4, 2010?
All the best,
Michael

Edited: Was thinking of a different post...

His response to my post was in regards to an earlier bet he had made with another poster yada, yada, yada.

If you are in possesion of his wager challenge post you may also be able to find the post I am referring to.

But collecting that bet may have been harder than making it for the shear reason it was basically 'internet banter' as opposed to a serious call to action, imho. That's not saying the poster would not honor his end of things, only that it was more of a rhetorical gesture.

    Thanks Bill,

I couldn't remember what the date was, but just thought about it today.

Looks like you beat me to the punch by a couple months.

It would have been a cool bet to collect on, but the way things go, it's just too hard to predict what will happen 9 months in the future.

    All the best,

YEAH, I remember who it is! 8-) He made the bet 10/18/2009

The stockmarket is at about its highest point now, since about the first week of april, and it is only 10,870.47!
Dow Jones Industrial Average (2000 - Present Daily) - Charting Tools - StockCharts.com

UNFORTUNATELY, TECHNICALLY, ****HE WON****!!!!!!!!!! He said "So, let's do a little wager, since I'm a betting sort of guy. I'll put my money where my big mouth is. I'll bet you the DOW will hit 11,000 before July 4, 2010. ". Apparently he won the bet sometime between the last week of march, and the first week of april. YEAH, it was brief! YEAH, in SPIRIT he was WRONG! By the letter though, HE WOULD HAVE WON THE BET! BTW YEAH, I know you will tell me to .... .. ... ........! But I couldn't resist!

      Michael,

I actually will have correct myself over the above post as my recollections were wrong. Nothing new there...

      04-20-2010
My latest forecast is that the Dow will rise to 12,250 by July 4, 2010. Some economists are saying the underlying stocks and others may be undervalued by as much as 20% as the recovery continues.
As Steve mentioned he was correct about the 11,000 mark being reached.

The post I chided him on was his 12,250 prediction and I did it well prior to July when there was no realistic chance the DOW would gain 30% in 3 months.

      Sorry for any confusion...

    LOL

    You guys are right.

    I forgot it hit 11,000.

I forget a lot of things these days.

Well, that bet was directed at one individual in particular, (I just skimmed the original post) so you may not have been in jeapordy, anyway...

Michael, we both suffer from the same dilema...TMB*, it a horrible condition that can only be cured be death.
