HTML code in thread anyone?

Hi, quick question, do you know how to get html code turned on in posts?
Or if not, how to make a well-formatted, video-embedded etc post?

I can't find this ANYWHERE in search!

Cheers

  • David,

Go into your User Control Panel, click on 'Edit Options' and scroll down to 'Miscellaneous Options'. Then make sure the 'Enhanced Interface' is selected.

That will give you full WYSIWYG control over the formatting in your posts.

    • Hi Frank, Thanks so much for your reply!!
However, I HAVE enhanced interface selected. That's why I wonder why html is off? Any further tip? Is your's ON? Can you format nicely and embed video?

  • Frank, I DID preview my post many times, but everything so far only shows the link, not the video box! :-(

Even IF I test it with youtube (although I wanted to link to my own website).

So, I wonder, what exactly did you post between
"Curtis will demonstrate:" and "Frank" ??
The source code doesn't reveal what you posted...

[But the video with Curtis is super cool! Reminds me of lost times...]

    • As I explained upthread, all I posted was the video's url.

Are you sure you've enabled 'Enhanced Interface'?

  • Yes, 100% certain, I see "Enhanced Interface" right in front of my eyes (blue eyes).

Maybe I should send the team an email so that they can educate me...
Need to watch the persuaders before
  • Thanks Thom!
Yes, but problem is: a) It does not show the video here, for me(!) it only shows the link to the video, and b) Others here HAVE video embeds to other sites than youtube, so it DOES work somehow. Maybe I should ask Carty tomorrow how he did it.

I see you are a motorbiker too. How nice! Your living room must be in US, cause such truck bikes wouldn't fit on the british roads

    • Sorry I didn't help with the vid problem.
That would be a tank, not a truck
Yep in the US where the roads are plenty big enough
  • David, is it a youtube video your trying to post?
If so, both Franks and Thoms methods should work. If not, then they may or may not work.
The video is not on by default, there are add-ons that make them work. So unless the addon supports the type of viseo you ar trying to post, it wont work they way they are telling you to do it.

    • Oh thanks, hi Tim. Well, initially I wanted (and still want) to embed a video from my site, but if that's not feasible I'd embed a youtube video.

However, as said again and again, I only see the link, not the embedded video (if I do it myself), but I do see the embedded video here eg from Frank, and others. Strange!
  • You said Hi Tim but I'm guessing you meant hi Kim.

There are media addons over at the forum makers sight that people create.I have one on my forum. It will embed different media from something like 100 different sites, but if the media isnt from one of those sites it wont embed it. If this is from your own site I am guessing it wont work properly.

    • Oh it was late night, Kim of course, sorry.

No, not other add ons and forums, I simply want to embed a video here in the WF. Like others did. I may just send one of them a PM and ask...

The article in the knowledge base seems to suggest that a) you will see the embed only after posting, not previewing, and b) you can only embed "public site's" videos, like from youtube.
  • In case it helps others in future:

EMBEDDING VIDEO: Just youtube and metacafe (allegedly). JUST write the URL, and the forum software will embed the video. BUT ONLY AFTER THE POST IS PUBLISHED. YOU WON'T SEE THE VIDEO IN PREVIEW MODE.

@All: Thanks for trying to help! I finally made it: Here's the WSO with embedded video from youtube: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ml#post2689734
