Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and looking forward to learning some cool stuff. I have a domain secretedge.com that I would like to develop into a money making site. Any suggestions on what I can out on this site to generate money? Thanks

Its so tacky to have your forum profile name as your URL. I would create another account and use the name of a person instead, you'll get much further here.

After you do that I will be the first to welcome you to the forums.

It's quite possible that he wants to brand his site (business) and not his
      personal name.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this. Many respected Warriors
      here have done the same.

To answer the OPs question, read as much as you can here. Join the War
Room. Ask questions that are less general. The more specific the question,
the better the answer you will get.

Asking how I can make money is not going to get you the kind of answers
      that you're looking for.

The site resolves to a Godaddy parked ppc page, the domain was registered last august, and the contact email has the words "leads" in it and its a free email account.

Nothing to brand here except a hope of some earnings from clicks.

That isn't the point. The point is, he has every right to use the name of
his site or business as a forum member name.

Others do it. That's all that matters.

How good or bad the branding is, is irrelevant. Hopefully, in time, the site
will come together and the name he chose will make a big difference.

Right Steve, any one can choose whatever forum user name they wish. Aside from that right its still tacky to use a domain name as a user name, that is what signature lines are for.

To me, and this is just my personal perspective. I like talking to people not domain names.

I got the idea of having my user name as a website from other warrior members. It is parked with godaddy because I do not know what to make a website about. This is why I signed up with warrior forum to get great ideas from you guys. Instead I get a bunch of negativity

Brush it off. Sometimes a thick skin is needed to weed through the BS. There are a lot of people here that want to help, a lot of people here that want to bash, and a lot of people here that think they are funny but are not.

You will learn a lot here. Don't let this first impression get you down.

                  Hi and welcome,

Like Steven said above you need to be more specific.

Trying to make it more specific.

First answer what can you do? What skills/knowledge
                  do you have?

For example, can you write, can you create graphics,
are you good at researching etc.

That can perhaps help to narrow it down to:

if you can write - create own product, be a ghostwriter,
write articles for promoting affiliate programs

If you can create graphics, good at researching then
                  you could offer a service.

I am not saying above is what you should do. I am just
helping you to start to narrow down how to make money.

                  Hope it helps.

If it helps or does not then ask questions on the forum - like members have said there are lots of helpful people and they will want to help.

Not at all. It says "Jill Carpenter" right underneath your username. That's very different from SecretEdge.com whose byline says SecretEdge.com right underneath his SecretEdge.com username, surely?

I think that if you take a step back and think about it, you might decide that maybe that isn't such a surprise.

Ask yourself what it would look like, at first glance, if someone was here primarily to promote their own domain, and how they'd go about that. It might look pretty much like what you just did, don't you think? They'd probably use their domain-name as their login and start a thread called something like "Introducing Myself" and put the domain-name in the title line of the thread, too, don't you think?

As Steven rightly point out, it's perfectly legitimate to use a domain name as your login here. It's also true that very few people actually do it, and it's probably true that people who come across as people (with real names) tend to get a slightly warmer reception, and it's arguably even true that they deserve it, too. I'm just saying ...

Anyway, the good news for you is that the Helpdesk are fast and efficient at changing usernames here. If that's what you decide you want to do, of course.

I think you have a very good domain-name there. I can immediately think of all sorts of gambling and/or financial services/activities/products-promoters who'd want to buy/use a domain-name like that. And all sorts of uses you might put it to if you wanted to develop it yourself. But I confess I'd be more comfortable chatting about them with someone who's a member of our community and has a real name.

C'mon Rus, you're a marketer who's using the last name "Sells"...

Just be thankful he didn't choose 'loseweightandgetyourexbackovernight.com' for a domain name.

          hi Rus,
as paltry as those domain PPC payouts are, this is just the "run of the mill" free parking, not GD's "cash parking" (a paid service, btw). I don't want anybody to mis-judge our new-comer's intention, but he doesn't make a red cent on those clicks, either way.

But Mr. Edge, you DO need a website my friend. And a niche. And some content. and an affiliate program, or adsense to monetize. backlinks, traffic, measure, split-test, analyze, rinse, repeat.

Not intended as negativity, so please don't take it that way, but...

Alexa has a point. At this stage of your membership, all we have to go on is a domain name, a parked domain with ads on it, and a vague question about how to make money with a website.

Not much to go on, would you say?

If you were that type, and the fact that you're sticking around and keeping a reasonable tone says you likely aren't, you would not be the first one to try that particular tack. You wouldn't be the last, either.

Seems like you already have some ideas. Hiring a designer and content writer, and promoting affiliate and CPA offers can make money.

Time to put on your thinking cap.

Look for markets, and niches within those markets, where the general herd believes that success depends on having some kind of inside information or secret technique. Your domain name is a natural for that.

If you have (or can hire) deep knowledge of a market or activity that would give those possessing your information an edge, you could look at doing a paid newsletter, advisory service or membership site.

The continuity would provide recurring income.

I hope you stick around, and I do hope you decide to give us your name one way or another...

Actually, he should keep this account, send a message to Thomas at Warrior Forum Helpdesk asking for a username change. They usually give you the change.. Better then having 2 accounts.

      Really, they can do that?

When I first signed up to the warriorforum, I didnt realize how incredible it would be and didnt realize how much time I would spend here!

Well, since your site is nothing but a godaddy ads page, there's plenty you can do...

Start with building a site. :-)

Why did you choose that domain name?

If you're into baby names, that domain might not help you much. You had to have a reason to pick it - so what was your original intent?

We'll be able to help you much better if you provide some details about what you are thinking/trying to do. Just having a placeholder domain and asking how to make money with it is too wide-open - we can't give direction based on that.

You'll find many willing to help, just guide us a bit.

Ok look maybe I was a little abrasive and i guess others think new users should be handled with kid gloves or something.

Why don't you put your name in your profile below your user name so some of us know who we are actually talking to.

Otherwise I am going to think your first name is Secret and you last name is edge.com.

And you could sign your post's with your name too, that might help some.
