Wireless Internet Card For Traveling

I'm getting ready to head back to Central America to do some more backpacking. This time around I'd like to get some kind of card I can plug into the laptop to get internet anywhere I'm at.

I know they exist, I just can't, for the life of me, find any online right now.

Any recommendations?

EVDO cards work WITHIN a country, but I am not sure about between countries. Check with your cell phone companies. WIFI covers <3000ft, and is subject to the local owner. EVDO covers about 2 miles and is subject to the providing telephone company.
