I subscribe to HARO (helpareporterout.com - not a bad way to get publicity for your product/service) and was amused at one of the requests that came through this morning:

Summary: WHO WANTS A MOM CAVE?

Men have had them for ages... Usually involving a recliner and a
remote control... Well, move over men - it's the ladies turn to
have a space of their own! Looking for women in their 40's /
50's that have a room/space they'd like to have made over into a
Mom Cave... Perhaps the basement, a spare bedroom, even an extra
walk-in closet that they'd like to call their own to read, blog,
scrapbook, watch TV, etc....

Oh, I'd just love a Mom Cave. Might have to look around the house to see if there's some space I could steal for my own. I'd put a sign on the front saying "No Husbands, No Children, Dogs Welcome!"

Any other moms fancy a Mom Cave?

    *ME ME ME*

    Raising my hand!

I need a place to hide away. Even like 10 seconds of personal time a day would be GREAT.

10 seconds - nah if I had a Mom Cave I would be in there 23 hours a day

Sounds great though - I want one.

My Mom cave is the library. When the kids get out of hand I leave them with my husband and go to the quiet library. Even though it's packed everyone is so quiet.

My mom does. It's the entire house. Don't you ladies run your homes like that?

My wife has a Mom Cave. Both my daughter and I know that if she's in there to not disturb her on pain of ... well... pain.

My stepfather gave me the best advice on women when I was 15 and I've lived by it since I got married.

If Momma is happy, everyone is happy.

I'm made it my personal motto.

    Hence, the Mom Cave.

Even though I'm not a mom, I've had "caves" for years.

I can recall the first(?) one I made when I was only 10 (before that I would curl up in cabinets or behind furniture). I call them my nest and they usually are some secluded corner or cubby where I have a comfy spot to curl up with my computer, a book, or a craft and ignore the world.

It's done wonders on keeping me sane since I'm actually a pretty major introvert and I always live with extroverts (my sister, roommates, my husband, etc). I would definitely suggest making one to any woman (especially if you require "me-time" like I do)

It's a novel idea, but I think it misses the point of a "man cave". The man cave is usually that one small space in the house that isn't already owned by the woman, where he can put a few "man" things. The rest of the house already belongs to the woman, so why the need for a "woman cave"?

Now this next remark is just in jest, so let me apologize in advance - But most houses already have a "woman cave". It's called the kitchen!

My SO has one ... we call it Mama's Den. It's 10'x20' with all her sewing & craft tables, quilting frame, and assorted fold and stow tables for larger projects and a huge closet with all her tubs of material and such.

We haven't lived here long so she hasn't had much time to use it yet but I'm sure she will once we settle in.

I do have a Man Cave and she designates the side of the garage with the bench as mine but the rest of the house is shared pretty well. We have received a lot of comments on how the house reflects both of our personalities.

As far as the kitchen goes ... she rules on what's there but we both cook and clean so it's a pretty good balance.

Go for it ladies!!!! I think you'll be glad you did.
