Hello,

I plan to get a laptop in 10 days or so and I am very excited as I can now work when I'm not home too and it will have more power so I can work with more demanding software.

What computer are you working on, in your IM business?

I work with 2 Dell Inspiron laptops. I have got attached to having 2 computers that are side by side - one that I am working on, writing articles, etc. And the other to do research, etc.

    What could I do with 3 . . . .

My son finally talked me into an iMac and to tell you the truth, I love it. It's rock stable and I really appreciate the screen size. I still use Window for some applications, but I've loaded them to the iMac running under VMware Fusion. That way I can have both OSX and Windows applications open simultaneously. Works really great.

Very cool! I have not heard of VMware before but then it's a long time since I ever needed to investigate anything apple related aside from my touch and phone. That program would solve a lot of issues for me if I went back to mac.

Did you get the base system package or did you upgrade for more RAM etc. Sorry I'm nosey but you peaked my interest.

    I'm working on a self-built custom-made PC.

    BUT...!

I'm gonna get myself a Macbook Air in a few weeks time. Just as excited as you are!

I'm pretty new to the game. Any advice on a decent system to get that's reasonably priced?

I'm just getting my feet wet building websites and would like to build a couple that have a solid income stream from various sources.
I also like to mess around making videos and have a youtube channel I made in 2008 and haven't touched that brings in anywhere from $1-4 dollars a day in adsense.

You won't need a powerful laptop for simple internet marketing tasks such as writing content and building websites. Video creation might be something else depending on your strategy... recording power-point slides and creating Camtasia Videos doesn't require too much juice either, but higher-end video editing will have you swearing and banging your head on the wall if you don't have a video card with built-in processing ability.

That will however make the price of your laptop jump to another bracket and totally kill it's battery life time (my Alienware laptop's charge lasts approx 45 minutes unplugged. My Dell Inspiron goes over 4 hours...)

Now if you're also planning to use it to play games and such, that's something else you'll want to keep in mind...
