I am looking to get a new backup hard drive for a PC. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I am looking to get one between 500GB and 1TB.

Thanks

Do you mean internal or external?

I'd go for an external. Go for as light and as small and as good of brand as you can find.

External you can get Western Digital hard drives for a decent price almost anywhere. I see them often at Costco. BJs usually has them too, but are about 10 bucks more expensive than Costco.
I'd say expect to pay about 100 for a terrabyte drive.
Of course, theis being the holiday season, you might be able to find some great bargains.
    Shop around.

I'd recommend a drive from Western Digital, too. I never had any of those drives break down (and I've got 15 HDDs).

They are very silent and provide good performance. Go for an external drive - you can keep it safely in your closet or even a fireproof safe if you've got one.

Also it is protected there from any power surges that could come from lightning.

If you need a backup software: I'm very happy with Norton Ghost.
