For fans of the Apprentice

I don't often watch TV but the Apprentice, Dragon's Dens and Million Dollar Listing are 3 of my favourite shows. I think you can learn a lot of business lessons here and there from the Apprentice, especially about how to get along with people, making decision and managing a team.

Last night, the winner of Apprentice 2010 was announced and Donald Trump fired Clint. I personally would have hired Clint and most of my business colleagues and friends who follow the show agreed. He was solid all along, showed that he can lead a team to victory, handle tough people, he was creative, works well under pressure, good salesman, proven problem solver, overall a "CEO in a box" as he put it and without a doubt a charismatic business leader. His last task which is more challenging than Brandy's went well and was a great success.

Meanwhile, I don't see anything in Brandy. She presented well in one task and that's it. She was not creative and didn't show any leadership quality, screwed up so many times in the final task. And finally, Trump hired her.
I don't understand his decision. Maybe because in one of the episode, she said that she prefer older man

I also follow BBC's the apprentice UK and I must say the US version of the show has been going downhill in the past seasons, including all the celebrities apprentice. I think the UK version is much better in term of it being a job interview to find an apprentice. Lord Sugar is more serious and play his role as "da boss" successfully and all the tasks are more challenging and entrepreneur oriented. I think it's a better show

  • Trump made his decision because the one thing Brandy had enough brains to mention. She realized that Trump is not the future of the company but Ivanka is and that demonstrated that Brandy has Vision whilst Clint was only concerned with the present.

Aside from that we all know Trump has a thing for sexy women!

    • And that's why he hired Joan Rivers.

Honestly, I loved the show for a long time. Bill Rancic was my favorite apprentice (the first!)

But Trump got so subjective and stupid, that I've realized I'm almost always disappointed in his choices.
  • Wow, I didn't know that you guys could see our version of The Apprentice. Is that on BBC America?

The BBC used to show us the US version, but that stopped a few years back...
  • Most of the people we get on the Apprentice in the UK are idiots.

I prefer shows like The Secret Millionaire where it's real successful people changing good people's lives.
  • I've read Donald Trump's "Think Big" novel and I really enjoyed it. It's about being brave in the face of adversity and, of course, thinking positive all time. I admire Donald Trump for his no-nonsense talk and his courage in diversifying his business into the field of prime time TV.
  • I think next year's Apprentice (uk) is going to be more interesting. Instead of looking for an employee, Lord Sugar will be looking for a candidate to invest £250,000 in their business.

    Should be fun.

    Cheers,

    Neil
  • Can't say I ever been a fan of the show. The whole celebrity bit annoyed me. I may watch it though whenever they do a new season, that is, without celebrities of course.

    • Clint's down fall IMO was laying it on thick as the country boy from Texas. The Trump brand is all about image and luxury.

Probably best for Clint since his style wasn't a good fit with the snobby world of Trump.

I do think he was better in his tasks but he did annoy me with the non-stop butt-kissing and the good old boy shtick.
  • Hopefully, they will pump new life into the apprentice. Maybe an all stars version would help ratings. Bring back originals like Bill Rancic (sp?) and love to hate characters like Omarossa. As a bonus, Rosie O'Donnell should sit next to the Donald in the board room. That will make for some good tv!
  • here in the UK we have Alan Sugar and he's down to his last 5 but i guess the theory is the same

    • Think the blonde guy wins. My mate works opposite alan sugars offices and sees the blonde guy go get his lunch each day so he must be working there.

  • Well, Clint certainly overdid his Britney Spears impersonation. The Texas thing was way over the top. Sure, be proud of where you're from, but don't make it who you are.

Brandy's statement about The Donald not being the future of the company put her over the top. He recognized that she was thinking forward.
  • Could never take the US Apprentice seriously, It is way to over the top and more about Trump than anything else. I watched a bit this year and thought Clint was the best by a mile however I think he didn't fit Trump's image and that was his down fall.

Few weeks left of the UK Apprentice and Margaret is back this week Us Brits love Madge and Nick...
  • Yeh the UK version is great and has got me hooked.

They are doing the job interviews on Wednesday and this has to be the best part of the process as the interviewers always make the contestants look like complete idiots.

    One to watch for sure.
